I'm quite amazed at how well they stay in tune. They surprise me.
I think I'm at 61 or so. I have no idea. I did good to get them all in one room. They're not worth anything and they're underdogs, ergo the sanctuary. |

Location: Caribou, ME | I think they're an underappreciated underdog guitar. I bought a basket case AA-14 sunburst in 2007 for $12 on ebay and once I mended it and removed the drywall screws from the bridge, it turned out to be a warm sounding, very comfortable guitar. They usually go cheap on ebay because they are pariahs (for no good reason) and most repair people consider them disposable. Not on a crusade, just offering them refuge at the island of misfit toys. |

Location: Phoenix, AZ | Impressive collection! I agree, they are unappreciated guitars, and hold up well. I bought one new in 1977 as a high school graduation gift to myself (wanted a REAL Ovation, but the $ was not there). It was my only guitar for many years, and was used daily, then both of my Son's used it to learn on till the got their own guitars. Still have it today, I did a neck reset and setup a couple years ago, and it plays, looks, and sounds great. |

Location: Caribou, ME | Beal could elaborate but it's my understanding they took some Academy (plastic) tops or some variation thereof and attempted to glue on a thin vinyl sheet that looked very much like spruce, much like the Fender FotoFlame deal that was popular in the 90s. I have 2 tops hanging on the wall alongside the cutaway model. Apparently they planned to glue braces onto the inside surface but they couldn't get glue to stick. I have about 10 of the veneers, which are very thin. I got them from alpep and I believe they are the only ones in existence. Could be misinformed though. |

So, these are sheets of plastic, not wood, and have shelf paper stuck to the top. Kewl! |

Where would the Applause guitars fit in with the Celebrity line? |
