Location: Nashville TN. | I having so issues with tuning when using G7 capo... tuning goes have to retune with the capo in place.
Anyone else have an issue or suggest capo brand? 1777-usa that I am playing |

Location: Tennessee | I've never tried a G7 capo, but heard good things about them from other players. I use Shubb capos when I play. I hear Elliott are real popular with performers especially around Nashville ... those are the best I've ever used but a little more than I wanted to spend.

Location: SoCal | Had one of the originals that I got from Temp. When the company made some improvements, they replaced the original. I have both the 6-string and 12-string versions. Excellent capo.
Pez, you may be able to get a free replacement. |

These were recent. They work ok on my my Martin. Maybe a changing brands is the answer. |

Location: sitting at my computer | +1 on the Planet Waves NS Capo. I have three, an aluminum NS capo Pro (radiused), a NS Classical (non-radused), and a NS Lite capo that's made of ABS and costs a few bucks less than the aluminum ones. All are very lightweight imho, and so far I haven't had any problems with any of 'em. Oh and they make spring tensioned, lever released ones too, but I haven't tried any of those.  |

Location: cincinnati, ohio | I like the Dunlop trigger capo. I saw James Taylor using one and thought, “If it’s good enough for JT, it’s good enough for me.” No intonation problems. The one I have is silver aluminum and I’ve had it for years. I used to use Kysers, but I was replacing one a year on average for broken springs. |

Location: Fitzwilliam, New Hampshire | I have Kysers for three of my acoustics and find them pretty good to work with. However, as I've learned over the years, finding the sweet spot on the neck (not mid-way between frets but almost on the fret) minimizes tuning issues. In fact, on my Guild Jumbo, I put the capo on the low strings and taper it slight off the fret for the higher strings! I have a Shubb for my electric guitars and it works as well but again too much tension, location on the neck etc can screw up the tuning. I wrestled with my Collectors Shallow bowl in the early years and also learned to tune the G, B, E strings slightly flat by a few cents, so when barred or capo'd they are on pitch. There are a few good video's on YouTube including one from James Taylor on how he compensates for this. He has a video on how to play Carolina on My Mind and he mentions tuning techniques. I've tried a few different capo's and recently a Planet Earth cheapie that can be made to work well with a good tuning strategy, tension not-too-tight and proper placement on the neck. There are many factors that can make using a capo difficult including the string height on each guitar. So, some food for thought. |

Location: Boise, Idaho | I've used Shubbs for years with no problems, except the little rubber bumper on the end of the screw came off one of them. Now my favorite is the Planet Waves. I assume it's the lightweight. |

Location: Sunshine State, Australia | I tried the G7 and hated it, but I couldn't tell you why. I've never liked the Kyser or Dunlop clothes peg style capos because there's no tension adjustment, therefore too much tension if you're up around the 7th fret. I've also been a Shubb user for more than a decade, but like OMA, I recently discovered the Planet Waves NS capo (the steel ones, not the plastic 'Lite' ones) and they really are the duck's nuts. 
They also have a Kyser/Dunlop style capo which has adjustable spring tension... 
...but I still prefer the NS Capo

Location: Fitzwilliam, New Hampshire | I got my Planet Waves cheapie plastic one for free so its a backup or one to keep in one of my guitar cases. The down side is the plastic teeth and locking tab will likely wear out quickly over time. I can't imagine it lasting very long. I wanted to try a G7 but I've had success with what I got and with some understanding of placement, tuning etc as mentioned earlier I've been able to make the Kysers work fairly well. They also make a wider one for a Classical neck which I have. Good discussion for sure!

Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | I have a dozen so or capos picked up over the years, including numerous Keysers, Shubbs and the G7, but the one I have used consistently for 25 years or more is a brass Victor curved head model that is bullit proof, small, and easily operable with one hand. Dunlop took over the brand and now makes what appears to be the same model in both curved and straight head configuration. I had to replace the hard rubber on the top arm about 10 years ago, and it is still going strong. Wouldn't trade it for anything now on the market. |
