Location: SoCal | Who is running the Ovation FanClub Facebook page and the Ovation Guitars (company) website? Just curious...
As an aside, Al is JibJab'd, from the Facebook page:
http://www.jibjab.com/view/1GozRKiuR-KOU-Nrf3IvDg?utm_campaign=Like...
Check it out.
By the way, on the OFC page, not much activity...last "posts to page" 3/31/2015, but previous 1/22/15.
Not sure what "posts to page" refers to. Last OFC post 2/14/15 concerning JAM Industries.
There are more current posts on the Ovation Guitars (company) Facebook Page (although last is 4/23/15, decent activity since 1/01/15.
Again, just curious. |

Then there are some of us that just ain't warmed-up to Facebook.
Personally, the Ovation Instruments Collectors Board has me visiting FB much more than I ever did.
But I don't have a smart phone, I don't text, and I definitely don't twit!
I don't even like talking on the damn phone.

That is true, a diverse collection of Ovation users that are able (within reason) to create new threads and make postings. The OFC was co-founded by Al and Miles but I personally have always considered it as a site built and supported by the members.
The Ovation FanClub (tm) Facebook page 'threads' seem to be only controlled by Miles as there are "POSTS TO PAGE" from 1/22/2015 to 3/21/15 and all of the threads (at least back to 2013) are by Ovation FanClub (tm).
I may be wrong but individuals are only able to post to established threads. This might be a reason it received 379 likes but few posts.
If it does not reflect the OvationFanClub.com site (diverse, energy, tech knowledge, etc.), my suggestion is that the semi-dormant Facebook page needs to more reflect our OFC or be removed. I never understood an individual's comments when I referred him to the OvationFanClub. Comment was "waste of time". He had gone out to the Facebook page instead of the .com page.
Is there a windmill nearby?

There is certainly cross-over, but facebook info is disposable as it quickly falls off the radar. While there is some cross-over, the people who are on Facebook, are generally not using forums, as you noted in your example. Two different animals. In general I use Facebook to promote websites and at the very least as a place-holder. I should do more with it to promote this site, but I haven't. |

Location: Taxed To Death State | At the end of the day, the more people we can spread the word too and make aware of the brand we all love so much the better. There is a whole new generation of young kids and young adults who don't get or didn't get enough exposure to the creative arts whether it be music, theater, art, etc. For the guitar players who are young all they know are Martin & Taylor. OFC, Facebook, Twitter, Pintrest, whatever the medium it may be, as long as they have access to the information that's what matters. Some people don't even own computers anymore, all they have are iPhones or Droids. Facebook is popular among the young crowd, Web Sites like this are more for the serious players and collectors to dive deeper into the brand and want to really know the nut and bolts and be part of a community. Everyone has their own method to their madness. This site still gets a ton of traffic, the Facebook sites (OFC or Collectors Group) server their purpose to the extent that it is more of a visual experience. If people need nuts and bolts info they ALWAYS end up here and for good reason. The more the Ovation name is out there, the better. |

"Ain't warmed up" is too polite. Some of us intentionally avoid Facebook altogether.
I don't know what that "Ovation Instrument Collectors Board" is, but
apparently you need a Facebook account just to view it? No thanks.
(And OMA, you don't need all those other gadgets, your friends know where to find you! ;-)
