Location: Western Sonoma County | Woohoo! Just scored a very nice specimen of a Preacher on eBay for a not-ridiculous sum. Brings my collection to four (see my signature). All USA built, all in very fine condition. I can even play them respectably.
Up to a few months ago I only had the twelve-string that I bought new in 1974. Got the bug to play again.
But the little woman is threatening to put me on a budget. What do I do? There's a Viper on Reverb with my name on it.

And as to the little woman.... Do what I always did to my husband, if I wanted something, I got him something I knew he wanted first, he was so happy with his new toy, he didn't care what I got! LOL!!!!! (turned out that didn't extend to girlfriends, and now I don't have to bribe anyone anymore! ) |

LMBO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hang the new one in the middle of the older ones, and say it's been there for years, thanks for noticing.....
Women use this one ALL the time for new clothes - just hang them amongst the old ones in the closet! LOL!!! |

| Ooooh ! A Preacher. I have a friend who has a Preacher and a Preacher Deluxe for sale but I can't stretch to a Viper, a Viper III, a UK II AND a Preacher. Doesn't seem necessary. Even though it is... |

It looks like a nice one, I was watching it but dropped out since I'm a true bottomfeeder and have a Preacher Deluxe.
I don't see any great Viper deals on reverb today. If you have patience you can find one for around the same price as the Preacher. guitarcenter or musicgoround usually have some to choose from.
If you stick with mahogany to fool the little woman, you could get a Viper and a Deacon, maybe a Deacon 12 too!

Location: Western Sonoma County | Preacher arrived today. Aside from some "belt buckle" scuffs on the back, the cosmetics are close to perfect. Electrics work cleanly -- no scratchy pots, switch flips cleanly. As close to new as a 35 year old instrument can be. It sounds wonderful. Neck has a very slight bow at fifth fret of so. My friendly neighborhood luthier will straighten the it as good as possible and then lightly plane the frets to get things leveled. That, new strings, and a little intonation adjustment and it should be good to go. |
