OK Then , Lacquer or Varnish

I've used MinWax high gloss varnish over the years on furniture I've made but never worked with wood on a guitar. Seems to me it's just the drying time. I'm wondering if my neck will need re-setup if the strings have been off for a week or so??? Thanx. Nitro lacquers are the traditional finnish on high end guitars. Its can checker or melt. Vynal will distroy it. Its a slow process to apply it. Taylor & Ovation both use modern more durable finishes that are modern. Finishes have to thin so the don't rob sound.
