| Ovation support isn't answering my emails but now I know why. I have a Glen Campbell 12 model 118-4
serial K-011 that I bought at Manny's in NY probably in 1972. I would like to verify the date and gather any other information about the instrument. The serial number is unverifiable on the Ovation website as there is no list with a K prefix. Can anyone shed light? |

I don't have the answer, but I can allow you access to the rest of the site where more people will see and respond.
Feel free to post your question in the main forum. |

I checked the list of serial numbers in the back of the 'History of the Ovation Guitar' and it lists H, I, J, L, prefixes as 70-73, but there is no K. If you look at the ovationgallery.com website under serial number registration there are several guitars listed with the K prefix and three digits (there are actually more Ks listed than Ls). My educated guess is that there was a typo in the original list which has propagated to several destinations and it should have read H, I, J, K, L prefix 1970 - 1973. If you bought it in 72, it was probably fresh from the factory. Hope this helps. |

| Hi Nick,
Yes, I found it interesting that Ks had been missed in the list and surmised that something like what you suggest had happened. It was definitely fresh from the factory.
thank you. |
