Hi Folks,

Just a quick hello and a compliment on the site. I discovered it while looking for information on repairing my 1981 Ovation 1615. Yep, just the one Ovation and at the moment its feeling a little under the weather. I had been thinking of selling or trading it for a cut-away of some sort but that will probably not happen - too much sentimental attachment. Plus, I've been told by my youngest, in no uncertian terms, I'm not allowed.

My boy's in Moscow too.

What's wrong with the 1615?

Hi Damon,

Your son attending the UI? I work in the biology dept.

As for the 1615, it has started to develop cracks in the finish below the bridge. I'm not sure how much bow should be in the top but I suspect dehydration. I'm wondering if a bit of rehydration therapy and maybe a JLD bridge system might be in order. The cracks? They are only in the finish, not the wood. Braces inside look okay too.

Here's a pic of the cracks. http://i1179.photobucket.com/albums/x396/RedStarOverRussia/Ovation1...

No, he dropped out of WSU, but is still out there working, but my oldest graduated from Boston U's biology department (cum laude) and is getting his doctorate at UC Davis right now.

You're a full fledged member now, so feel free to go ask questions in the BFLG section. Those guys are the Fronkinsteen's of the OFC.

Welcome to the club.

Thanks Damon, I've cross-posted my question in the 'About my Guitar' section. Hope to tap into a bit of the collective wisdom here!
