Hi Bernie, glad to hear from you. I post once in a while..... but check/read the forum every day...
I will write an email to you soon.....take care.
This guitar is wonderful. I had the pleasure to play an elite 1768 -in sunburst finish- of a friend of mine and I was blown away. I think the 1768 got the legacy of the 1537. Am I right ?

I only have the 1768 "Book", you know it. I had it with on your trip to Italy as we visited Titti and you. It sounds really good, but the 1537 is better. More powerful with more bottom end. One of the best you can get.....

I remember your guitar very well. Love it .... ....... BTW it was a 1718 full body (not 1768). Unfortunately I never had a chance to play a 1537.
However, never say never

Thanks Bernie to renew the invitation. I was in Berlin back in september attending an exhibition (railway business). No chance to get to Mainz. Next time I will be visiting Germany near your place I let you know.
Paolo thanks for the link. The guitar seems nice.....unfortunately I do not have the $ to get it now...I know Xmas is coming and it would be the perfect gift......hmmmm I need a meeting with the accountant (the wife) ....

You got that right paofab! America is the land that flows with milk, honey and beautiful, affordable Os! I've found that searching patiently and diligently in Japan will occasionally surface a good "O" deal. But salvaging bowls and necks in good shape can be a real alternative for the adventurous "guitar restoration" types with GAS but no cash. Os are just legend and not even available in most of the world...my sanity would be in jeopardy in a place like that...

Hi Arumako. I recently bought a N769 custom legend ( Nakao series) built exclusively for the japanese market and I have to say it's magnificent with an incredible sound. I think it's one of the best sounding Ovation wood topped guitar. I think in Japan there are high-end Ov/Adamas model, maybe not many standard model. Isn't it?

Hey paofab. Yup, those "made for Japanese market" Nakao's are all very special guitars. They are getting harder and harder to find over here. You must love your N769 Legend. How you came across one of those in Italy is a mystery to me. There must not be too many of those over there. They are nothing short of fabulous, and they are still pretty expensive over here. The N768 Elites sound incredible as well. A friend of mine owns one, but recently his kids used his N768 as a slide and the top popped off of the bowl! Shame, shame... The NNS779 Legend and NNS778 Elite are less fancy to look at, but many of them featured xlr outputs and sound majestic through a PA system. NH even made a Nakao Country Artist which is practically impossible to find! As far as finding high-end Ovation models over here...Japan is a pretty fickle and fad driven market. When the U.S. market leaned heavily toward woodbox acoustic and acoustic electrics; Japan, pretty much followed suit. Everybody wanted Taylors and Martins. However, NH made Os never really lost their appeal (nobody can deny a guitar that sounds good), and "Adamas" has a special kind of legendary mystique over here. They get auctioned at prices that are way out of my range; but every once in a while, a friend will let me borrow their Adamas; and I must say, that is very satisfying. I think I need to try and get an OFC style gathering going in Japan!

I was really lucky to get hold of a N769, I don't know how many of these guitars are resident in Italy today, not many I believe . These days on ebay there is a N768 for sale but the price is out of mind....

The slide thing...yeah, umm...his kids, 2 & 3 years old, leaned the guitar on a sofa, bowl side up, sat on the soundboard and slid down the soundboard and neck down to the living room carpet! No joking, verified the story with the kids and their mom. In the process, the neck kind of got misaligned, the sound board cracked, and the butt end of the guitar top popped off the bowl (kind of like my 1868 Elite project guitar)...Geez, and I thought Hendrix and Blackmore found pretty creative ways to destroy their guitars! Currently, the poor N768 is awaiting being sent to the mini-Mother (pending necessary funding)...at least the kids are still alive! A sad but true story...

One reason to keep them cased.
Lol...nice, MWoody!
Now, I thought the kids found a creative way to destroy their Daddy's precious "O" until I saw the "Trebuchet" thing in the post "Who is still here and who hasn't been heard from?" by Phil Wong. That is a (for lack of a better word) wicked machine...although I think the machine would work much better with Fxxxxr guitars...I mean with the "Trebuchet" who needs Hendrix or Blackmore...
Umm, no offense intended for fans of the above mentioned guitar heroes...

I´ve just stumbled across a one-of-a-kind N768...a "must have" guitar. I once had one of those...but the $$$$....so I decided to give away my 1537, pics are in my album on this site. The guitar has a repaired top crack near the armrest position and one superficial surface crack in the center of the top beginning under the neck to the bridge. I found out when I made a neck-reset some time ago, that this finish crack was due to the bad neck position and now there is no pressure left at this point. In my eyes the guitar is in nice shape again and plays and sounds wonderful. Maybe someone will give this guitar a new home.
The location is in Germany.

The bursts are the best
I have to admit that since Damon started putting up pictures of his Bursts, that I have found their Beauty too, and have been *acquiring* some rather Gorgeous bursts too! Darn you Damon!!!!
(But Reds still beat Bursts! )

That's an old pic, I don't live at that address any longer and have upgraded the fireplace tools.
The uke was an Oscar Schmidt and was pretty cheap. I traded it away for a bottle of Cabo Wabo. I have an Ovation Uke to plug in (applause?) and another cheapo non-electric Oscar Schmidt OU2 mahogany body.
I don't play much, so I don't put too much $ into 'em. It is fun to whip out and play "You Belong To Me" on occasion.

Yes, and I am not satisfied with the story I got from the seller. Says the finish was stripped and replaced with Tung Oil- but if so the finish cracks would be gone... Whatever...
