I inherited this Ovation Model 1111-4 (Serial No. 006948) that I would like to sell. However, I have not been able to find any Ovations on line that look similar to this one. It has a plastic pickguard that lifts easily to reveal no classic Ovation rosette underneath. The Ovation sticker in the bowl clearly indicates it is a 1111-4.

Can anyone supply any other information? Thanks.

The serial # indicates it was made in 1972. The case looks to be an original. The plastic pickguard is aftermarket. Hang around, I'm sure you will get some more information. Welcome.. :)

The original Ovation rosette is plastic w/MOP or abalone, or ? inlaid underneath and is glued to the top and often comes loose or is cracked... the original must have been lost or broken, and this is what they came up with for a fix, if the soundhole is rough sawn and not smooth or routed/rounded this would indicate that there was once a rosette there.

at least that's what it looks like to me..

anyone have an old rosette they can send this guy?
that just looks wrong... at least to me..

shouldn't affect the sound tho.. these old silver label balladeers are nice.

Welcome KTM. If that pickguard lifts easily, LIFT IT.... all the way to the trash.. then put on a traditional Ovation rosette. They come up on eBay now and then, or you could probably get one from the factory. Those old Balladeers sound nice.
