Definitely mix them up, add blue and gold, and make a set of rainbow.

I guess you still haven't gotten your voice back. I'm with Jimbo. Play a song for us.

Notice the Slipchord at the beginning (AKA the Je-sus chord)?

MAN, those guitars sound REALLY NICE. Randy, why don't you put a post on the AGF about how this one sounds same or better than a D28. That should give those A-hoos something to do with their day. Dave

You have switched the slack-key persona for some bluegrass. I guess it fits the fine Tak you have there. Very nice!

Sorry Randy. You still make great music! If it makes you feel any better I called John P "Brad" the other day. Maybe that's why we have handles. Dig Jeff B's new moniker "NostrAdamas" :p

dave,
since the 340 is a mahogany b/s model, i suppose it should compare with a D-18. the EF360SBG rosewood b/s would be the comp to a D-28. however, this 340 is every bit as nice as a D-28, IMO.

I know that - but if you said "d18" they would all pass it off and reply "well, yeah that's ONLY a d18". Tell them it blows away a d28 and you'll really make their sphincters twitch.

Hey Wabbit: we all gotta have somethin' to hold on to, now, don't we?

Lanaki, a request: choose a tune and do a side-by-side Tak, then Adamas, switching off quickly. I'm serious: you get a great sound there on the Tube and I'd like to hear a sort of duelling banjos thing (you could call it "Roses are Red, Adamas are Blue, I'm a schizophrenic and so am I!)

Oh, right. That would not be fair. I have been so intrigued by the unique sound as I work with my new 1581. Sitll trying to find a way to express what is the Adamas sound (dark chocolate?)

Anyway: would be cool to hear equivalent guitars side-by-side, no?

thank you, greg. i have no idea what i am playing from a technical standpoint (theory, scales, etc.) i just mess around until i find notes that work and try to remember where they are. i've never played this tune the same way twice and probably couldn't. it's all on-the-fly. (shhhh jeff w and/or cliff!)

It's all very obvious, really: you have a d pedal that's sets up modal movement (as opposed to the expected diatonic root deal, cycle of fourths etc); now and then the sub dom and dom get subbed with an altered 7th so that opens up the usual options (I notice that you eschew the dim for the sexier alt dom, jazz minor route). Nice ramp work there into the tonic. It's exactly what Stravinsky was doing in the Rite of Spring only with an Angus Young sorta vibe. I mean, like Miles meets Tommy E., only different. Send me the sheet music, dude!!

[Note none of the above makes any sense at all, but it sounds impressive, no? Should write a column for GP on "nonsense theory"]

Randy,
I love it! Esp. the plugged in version: sounds really nice! Very Cool guitar!

Hey Dave, got my '48 D-28 yesterday! Its at Wayne Henderson's shop right now and when he's done doing his magic, I'll have one incredable guitar to cornerstone the collection!: and if you think I've gotten "deals" in the past (1758-6p = $300 etc.) then wait until you hear about this!

Randy, I wish Hawaii were not so far away! ;)
