I've seen quite a few clips in various posts throughout the forum and I thought it would be nice to have one thread to store them all in. Doesnt matter what musical style it is just as long as its something that might be of interest to other players here.Great thing is if ya dont like the links posted then up one yourself! Hopefully this might take off.Heres a few to start.

Good idea!

My all time favorite song.. SRV -- Riviera Paradise

After SRV cleaned up his life, he dedicated this song as an apology to all those people he had hurt through the years. Supposedly, he cut this for In Step in one spontaneous take, and wrapped it up just as the last inches of tape were rolling off the reels.

The first time I heard this song was in 1991 on Johnny Carson's show when he paid tribute to his son who had been killed in a car accident. This song played over samples of his son's photography.

For me, SRV broke the AOR cycle-of-crap and let me straight to the blues masters.

Look at this video of Paul MacCartney: Again and Again and Again

It's surely not the greatest song from the Wings period but I like so much Denny Laine and Laurence Juber guitars... :D

The McCartney video would have been better if they had shown a lot more of Juber pretending to play guitar, and a lot less of Holly pretending to play the drums.

He's incredible, Paul. I've seen him live twice and on top of being an insane player, he plays with such personality that it's just a lot of fun watching him. Greatest ever? Certainly one of 'em but there's been so many greats in so many genres I don't even think in those terms anymore.

That was fun! Stevey Ray still amazes me with his strength on the 12 string. I think of him every time my hands get tired working out a song on mine! What a loss! Adrian Legg has the coolest tuning....nothing short of maazing to see what he can do with the tuners as well! .... love to see how he chose an ovation adamas for that wonderful bright sound.. Micheal Hedges??? RIP????? Dam... What an interesting style. I gotta get out more! That was fun. Anyone got a nice clip of Steve Howe doing his work???
Thanks for the clips

Killed in an auto accident in 1997 I think. That song was from a Windham Hill video. I like it better than the original studio version.

I always liked Hedges' recording of the Bach cello sonata . . . played on a Dyer harp guitar.
I think it's on the 2nd WindhamHill "Solstice" album. He plays this "walkdown" on the bass strings, that . . just when you think he CAN'T possibly get a lower note . . . he hits one that just rattles the speaker cones.

I've seen a couple of clips of MH playing the harp guitar...pretty amazing.

I have to add a couple from two guys I really like. I had no idea they were great friends when I first heard them until I saw them together.

I took my girlfriend to see Jack Johnson last summer....great show. He sure is smooth. You can almost hear the surf in his voice (if that makes any sense). Surfing and the guitar were his great loves growing up. He sure gets to my girlfriend...lol.

Jack Johnson Better Together-Live

His buddy Ben Harper always puts on a good show too. Ben is a very positive guy. His 'Better Way' video is very cool. I think this vid clip is from Bonnaroo...

Ben Harper - Burn One Down

Jack and Ben (on his slide) - Gone

There is music for every mood. After dad passed, I was pretty mellow and reflective...but not sad really. I listened to these guys a lot during that period because the vibe matched mine I guess.

peace...

I didn't know Karl Rove and Ann Coulter had started writing lyrics for punk bands  "The Right Brothers"??

I thought this was a joke at first. It sounds like they just took a bunch of FAUX news headlines and strung them together to make the "Anti-Green Day" song. You are right...I do hate it...because I know better. In the bizarro, Orwellian world we live in today where war is peace, death is life....where we free nations by destroying them, where we install dictators when it suits our purpose then remove them when we need a boogie man to justify our wars....where we accuse those dictators of torture then do it ourselves...where we say our economy is strong yet our national and personal debt, poverty, homelessness, bankruptcies and all the signs of a decaying society are at an all time high...yes...I can see how in this upside down world some may think Bush was right. But I sure as hell don't. These guys and anyone else are entitled to their opinions and to express those opinions in song if they wish...it's America...but it won't be much longer if we don't wake up soon.

I didn't mean to go off on a rant....on second thought...yes I did...but it was inspired by that post/song. I've commented on a lot of the songs posted on this thread...all of it positive because that's how the music made me feel.....except for this one...because that's how the music made me feel too. I couldn't even listen to the whole clip. As mentioned at the start of the thread, we don't all have to like each others songs and everyone is free to post what they like. I'm not upset that it was posted and hope a harsh tone will not be read into this...but the song had a strong message that drew a strong response...that's all. In my eyes...if these guys truly believe Bush was/is right, they should sign up and go fight for Bush's cause. When someone says "Bush was right" they are also saying "the cost has been worth it" (because if it wasn't worth it then he was obviously wrong)...and NO ONE should be able to say another man's life was worth giving up...if he is not willing to give up his own!

I'm a member of a group called "Veterans for Peace". I try to keep my politics out of things most of the time. It can be hard to do sometimes where music is concerned because music expresses life, culture and the times we live in. I'm passionate by nature about many things but none more so than war and the needless waste of life. I truly believe that "man must put an end to war...or war will put an end to man".

"I hate war as only a soldier who has lived it can, only as one who has seen its brutality, its futility, its stupidity.

Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, signifies in the final sense a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed." Dwight D. Eisenhower

the republican party sure has changed....it's why I left it. I apologize if I went too far here...I just needed to vent.

peace

I saw a video that I liked, that I agree'd with (sorry Mark -- we'll sit down over a beer and talk about it -- I don't agree with you at all, but we'll talk, not yell, and it will be civilized) and that I thought was cute and fun and I posted it in the youtube thread.

exactly why we need to keep politics off the board.

you knew that posting that link would provoke a reaction both negative and positive.

perhaps you should post that on boards where politics is the important thing.

there are plenty of sites out there.

I've been working on the Jorge Morel arrangement of El Choclo for a few months. Its a bit of a stretch for me, but I finally got it down pretty good. So, I start thinking I actually have some chops.

Then, I see the Tommy Emmanuel video of Somewhere Over the Rainbow. I realize now that I am still the 12 year old kid I was 30 years ago, plinking out one note tunes in my bedroom from the "Alberts Basic Guitar Method" book.

That guy is sick.

Satire exempts the song from being hit by the lawyers.

This is satire, like the Beatles singing How lucky the boys are back in the USSR. It's like when a New Yorker tells someone they are "Really Great", but they mean the opposite. I take no position on whether I agree or disagree.

This begs the question though, when you ignore satire, when does a song become a copy? For instance, does the song My sweet lord sound like another song? For me no, other people yes.

Apropos of nothing, I popped in to work today, even though I'm 'on vacation.' In checking my email, I had received a note from the VP of Information Resources. I felt special. Then I read it. He said I have violated the AUP/TOS by visiting youtube.com using company resources and should knock it off forthwith (or is it forsoot and verily?). I haven't even been there in a week.

Thanks guys.

I didn't mean to criticize their effort. My hat's off to anyone who has the guts to put their self out there. Heck, they did a lot better job than I could have done...

When I search for "two young blondes playing ovation guitars" all I get is "Prussian Blue" and a link to some story that aired on ABC 20/20 program ...

An agency will grab ahold of them, dress 'em up like sirens, put them in a studio with a star studded producer to make 'em sound fantastic regardless of what talent they have and then Ovation will grab them for an endorsement deal. Not only will they not have to buy their guitars anymore but they will make more $$ than they know what to do with. And so the story goes........ ;)

Tup, I saw a comment on the Youtube page about Nazi's, now you show the photo of adolf in snow garb I'll have to do a little research into what message they are sending.

I took the photo down. I personally thought it was pretty funny, but it would have just gotten too many folks panties in a bunch.

My only comment to Jeff's post was that when I think of 2 young blonde girls playing ovations I have a hard time not thinking about ABC's 20/20. That's all.

This is Erik Mongrain. He has a style like Kaki and I thought whats neat about this song is that his guitar harmonics sound alot like wind chimes. Catchy little tune too.

It can be done, although I don't know exactly. One of my co-workers made a DVD for me with a bunch of them. Do a google search. I think it's kinf of a "back door" way you have to do it.

Muzza,

First, you must use Firefox and with this plugin, you can download the video: VIDEO DOWNLOADER

The video downloaded is ".flv" and you can convert it to mpeg1, mpeg2, avi etc... by using a converter.
There's some freeware who can do that.
I've got one but it's in French... :D

Thanks Paulmac and Dave.

I've downloaded video downloader and it works fine.

But to convert to another format for you Mac users out there, you'll need to download Visual Hub.

It's easy to use (or as complicated as you want) and has a good user manual. Converts to avi, mpg, dv, dvd, wmv, mp4 and even back to flv.

Some of you who went to LAST year's Tour/Jam may remember my good friend, Mike Trickett(KarmannG) and "Norm!" . . .

Here's a video of their band (UsualSuspects) playing a BoozeCruz up in "Bahston".

That's MasterTrickett doing a quite impressive vocal job, and Norm on the Tele.

I like the end where the asswipe on the Jet-Ski loses it in the wake . . . .

WellDone, MasterTrickett!!!

I've been watching a few of the rare & vintage Glen Campbell videos posted on youtube (NICE)

"Guess I\'m Dumb" - 1965

and...

"By The Time I Get To Phoenix"

Great early footage of a bygone era......

This clip of Glen & Johnny has what appears to be a early model Glen Campbell Deluxe Balladeer, shiny bowl with a winged bridge? I can't quite make out if Glen's initials are on the 12th fret but in a few shots you can see the large signature TRC!

I'm curious as to why this guitar has a winged bridge vs the 5 point rosewood ones like Wayne's (bluebird) "prototype" and Paul's (moody p.i.) and Dave's (Tuppy) GCDB?
Could this be an early "artist" model?

Mike, in that clip Glen is playing a 1970 GC Artist. The first year of the guitars with the new bowls, Ovation used a winged bridge. It was in 1970 or '71 that they went to the bridges still used today.

Thanks Paul,Yeah I watched the clip a few more times and determined that the bowl looked neither deep or shiny!

The show originally aired on November 25th, 1970 so that guitar is less than a year old.....depending on when ole Glen took possession from the factory!(he always did get "first dibs" back then......I wonder if he got one of the first reissues?)

Great clip of two Legends.....(and a new GC artist!! :D )

Mike,

Glen played the DB shiny bowl in the first season of the Goodtime Hour (Jan-June, 1969). I think it was at the first of the second season (fall of 1969) that he started playing the GC Artist.

In the clip when Glen sits down,Johnny says "Welcome back,It was nice doing your show.I hope the people around here are treating you as nice as your people treated me." so John had earlier guest starred on the Goodtime hour.(Glen & John appear several times on each other's shows)
I taped all the Goodtime hours that CMT aired (I think Johnny Cash is on about 2 of the reruns) and there is a mixture of Glen using the DB shiny bowl and the GC artist.
I'll have to re-watch ;) the shows to see what guitar Glen was playing when Johnny was visiting!

.....I live such a rough life.... :D

Is You Tube the future of television? It's like a phone book with no names. Or as springsteen said, 57,000,000,000 channels and nothing on. Well, OK, a few things, but it really is pretty slim pickin's.

At the end Young gives the rhythym for "Let\'s Impeach the President"

He says the chords are G and D, but I think it's G and C.

Here\'s the song

This shows G and C, capo at 2 or 3rd fret

Sounds a little like powder finger.

This is an interesting thing.

Unfortunately for me, my connection is too slow. Nice to see Kaki, and I heard a little of her great talent. I guess I need a faster connection, but I enjoyed what I saw.

My best comparison is standing outside the naked lady tent at a 1950's travelling circus and getting a glimpse of the decadence waiting inside if you were willing to part with what then was big money for a soldier or a farm boy.

That's all I got then and now.

Also, not an Ovation but I love maple guitars...

Terra Naomi "Close to Your Head"

Another with her Ovation...

Terra Naomi "Jenny"

I admire anyone who can go out there with just a guitar in hand and sound so good.

I wish we had things like YouTube and digital records around 30 year ago...

It's a clip from the Plant & Page "Unledded" MTV special, also marketed as the "No Quarter" concert.

Page's doubleneck Elite is the 12/6 configuration, 12 on top with a shallowbowl. As I understand it, this design was the benchmark for the later D868-X Elite series shallowbody that Ovation made during the later 90's. Maybe some of the factory folk's have some better insight ;)

This was prior to the introduction of the Celebrity CSD-225 & CSD-255 models.

Page really is the master of the double and triplenecks. I think his brain switches into auto as soon as he picks up a guitar.

p.s. If anyone come's across that gorgeous white doubleneck in the picture, call me...that would pair off my black one so nice :D

Actually, an FTP site that would hold sizeable files for (like)seven days and then automatically "dumps" 'em WOULD be cool!! . . .

Yeah, my company is starting to get wise. They have blocked most "video streaming" functions, like youtube. Also have blocked myspace and most gambling sites. Interestingly, all my online dating links including chicks-with-dicks still work perfectly.

I am "my company getting smart"... I won't ban anything, but I will EXPOSE everything people do online at work, including how much time I spend on the OFC (as opposed to how much time I spent working on stranded airplanes while travelling on Saturay to get to a stupid trade show, which I'm not attending, and two dinners in Chacago). My biggest problem right now is network traffic from people serving/sharing Itunes in the office.

Doug Smith recently won the International Guitar Competition at the Walnut Valley Music Festival in Winfield, Kansas. Winning at Winfield is quite prestigious, as it has become the "Van Cliburn" of acoustic fingerstyle competitions.

Anyway, Doug is a resident in my home town of Portland, and incidentally, my guitar teacher. However, don’t construe that association as having anything to do with my abilities.

So here he is on youtube performing one of his compositions.

At the CMS a couple of years back DD played one of his many renditions of something and during the Q/A and How to part of the session he took apart each separate technique or "trick".

He basically uses some very simple and do-able techniques! Throw in a handful of Nashville Showmanship and some attitude and you got it.

Be awed, amazed and encouraged by these talents.

These "guitar gods" may have more talent than us and they may be wired a tad different, but they are only human. Five digits on each hand..two arms, etc.
I got a kick out of it when I looked up at the video screen at the WHO concert and saw that Pete plays the opening to Amazing Journey.... just like I do!!!

Heck if I know...except to pay her credit card bills for her shoe collection.

In addition to a little comedy, she has four Pulitzer Prize writers contributing.

Other than some writing contributions, she's a one-woman show...web, design, video tape, editing, production.

Did suggest that she not quit her day job...

Is there a program available to import dvd files and shrink/convert them down to YouTubeable size? Copying from a TV screen with a digital camera seems cumbersome and low-tech if there is another way.

I tried Windows Movie Maker but it wouldn't recognize the file type.

There's lots of video conversion software available. Some costly, some cheap, some free (some good, some adequate, some crap...).
What exactly are you trying to do, Wayne? Take clips from DVDs to post on youtube? (and I guess, why?)

There's a free program from SourceForge called FlaskMpeg that will convert from VOB (DVD files) to Mpeg or Avi, and allows you to choose a segment of the VOB file to convert rather than the whole thing. Works ok, if you've got a little time to figure it out.

That leaves you with an Mpeg or Avi file that's still too big for youtube.

So....
I've been playing with some free stuff from divx labs, Dr. DivX and the required DivX for Windows codec.
Seems to do a nice job of converting, you'll have to go to the 'preprocessing' tab under 'advanced' to resize to 320x240 for youtube.
Install the codec first, it may or may not tell you to reboot. Then install Dr. DivX.
Point Dr DivX to the file you created in FlaskMpeg to convert, tell it where you want the converted file, and press encode.
On the encode screen highlight the file and press resume.

If all goes well, you'll have a file suitable for youtube. Good luck!

I think the tuxedos might be what bothers me most about that clip. Reminds me of the old Catholic nuns and, well, I'm sure you can imagine the "challenges" they had with me back then. I never really understood why either - I asked them all out!

The Aussies have been in all our wars since WWII. A pop singer, Beccy Cole, has been criticized for going there and entertaining their troops, USO style. Her references to "tear me off the wall" refer to the criticism she is receiving for her going to "the wrong side of the world." Her song puts it all in perspective.

By the way, a "digger" is an Australian Soldier.

I've told you all about a Guitar League I'm in - a monthly get together where we discuss and play different styles on many different levels (beginner, intermediate and a couple of insane upper level guys). One of the founders of the League is a student of Tommy Emmanuel's and wrote a song for him titled "Tommy's Ramble", a not so subtle nod to TE's "Chet's Ramble", written for Chet Atkins a year after he passed away. At the last League meeting, the song was recorded. It's my pleasure to introduce you all to Loren Barrigar, a great guy who is also holder of the title youngest performer ever on the Grand Ole Opry stage (he was 9 and studying under Mr Atkins and Chet had him on) on "Tommy\'s Ramble" . Enjoy.

We should probably each send Tommy E. a buck or two. After all, he does these wonderful lectures for a living, doesn't he?

I'll need to watch that one over and over for years to absorb and practise what he shares in 3/4 of an hour.

I'm thinking if I were a cat with nine lives it still would not be enough time. I've been strumming for 40 some odd years and know I will never even start to approach what he does. Very inspiring guy. I'm going to see if I can find some of his CD's today, altho I sure enjoy watching him perform on YouTube. He is entertaining to watch.

Well there is a balance. One of the things I enjoy about Andy Mckee, is that he's a very good finger picker. His right hand is interesting to watch. The drumming of the guitar body works for me, only on a limited basis. I appreciate the inovation, but too much of it loses its appeal. He does have very good playing ability.

No hot guitar here, but here is moi on my Adamas(with the rest of Jerry Reed's band) backing up Tanya. Oh, the stories we could tell! We all almost hit her in mouth months before Glen ever got to her. LOL!!!

For those of you so inclined: this is probably the most powerful version of "Amazing Grace" ever recorded. This is Wintley Phipps at Carnegie Hall. You will probably learn something about that song you never knew before too.

You have to throw Jeff W and Northcountry out of the club for
(Northcountry)asking about someone digging up that music video called Apache and then
(JEFF W) for finding that horrific music video and putting on our post.
My curiosity got the best of me so I watched it.I am now messed up for life as those images of that video are scarred into my memory banks.
Northcountry & Jeff W you owe everyone in club an apology for this.
I am going to warn all OFCers about it. GWB

Apache patchy boy!

I laughed through the whole thing.

It wouldn't get past the PC police these days.

But what will some of today's music videos look to people in 30 years?

How fashions change.

That was like watching a car wreck! It was so bad, but I couldn't turn away. I watched the whole thing! And NO, that still wasn't cool in the 70's.

That HAD to be done with a "tongue-in-cheek" attitude.
Looks like something that was done for a Smothers Brothers episode.
Too funny!!!

y'know, the female choreography was not all that shabby for the era. i agree with cholloway that it was never intended for seriousness. also, it seems this was a danish band and production from some of the comments. Here's the keyboard players info:

Lanakis' right about the female choreography; best part of the whole thing. Not good enough to make me want to watch it again.

Beats every video I haven't made though... :)

Guitar 1580 there is some good stuff there. I have found a few musicians I had not heard of myself in these posts. I had some nice Led Zeppelin live songs before they got pulled. Too bad too. Jimmy was really in a grove to on some of them. I have to go back a review a few. I am working on While my guiar......right now. Perhaps this guy has some helpful pointers.

Not sure I am trying to figure that out right now. Also I have to make a confession, I found the Kid playing George Harrisons WMGGWeeps I have to admit he made that Uke sound like no Uke I have ever heard! Amazing actually. What a mastery he has of this instrument. I think I will have to cut the Uke players some slack. You have to be real good though. Somebody get this kid a guitar!

Thinking while writing I guess we could get a cheap computer tower and hook it through a good sized screen and copy all our videos on disk format. ?? I don't know, in the end I'll let Aaron do this he is an electronics guy.

Found a memory!

I faintly remember this song and the project in the 70's but I had forgotten about it until I hit this last night. I am search through this stuff and finding some new acoustic material. Great stuff, roll one up, sit back and give this a listen tell me if this don't bring back the good stuff.

Perhaps what Andre Segovia did generations ago for the guitar, Bela Fleck can do for the banjo. (Though I do continue to wonder how he's related to Ben Affleck... not a think in his favour)

...ya know, it's funny, but Bela is either loved or hated by banjoists. He's just not "pure bluegrassy" enough for most of the Earlinators... but if making music is the object, then he has few peers.

Love Larry's stuff. I discovered him through this group as well. He has one of the "original" #7 beige 1587-7's I always wanted to match my 12 string. Great musician.
I posted this one some 20 pages ago but it has some similiarities and I am working it out on my 12 now so I thought it might be nice for those of you who have not seen this one.
Try this for a great little 12 string piece from one of my favorite guitarists. It is not as easy as he makes it sound. I have almost got it..........

Long live Larry! I have been listening alot to "The Restful Mind" (with the Oregon crew) and "Spaces". Truly classic. Jeff Burns and I are working on a tune from his "Splendid" album with Philip Catherine. Another understimated hero.

Erick Turnbull playing on Ovation:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9izI5jlp8sY

Tommy Emmanuel - Imagine. great version:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jwU_biPIZ2g

Amazing Grace played by some guy... great guitar and great playing:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R7j7ghcOq_A

Everything I don't want to be. By some guy from Austria. Pop/rock, but i like it:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3pxxq8vnNwQ

This'n'that - that old guy really can play. That vintage Martin sounds great, too.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PxtOlFo-1hE

Ennio Morricone's Chi Mai on electric guitar. Touchy.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XLPdTR9XXDM

Ghost and Goblins. Geeks will enjoy.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IAFr6XE4-0w

Michael Chapdelaine playing California Dreaming. From the time i first saw that vid i've started learning to play fingerpicking
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0wVP4UrgpE

and another one, this time Come Together:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u55G1VGuTfs

Tommy Emmanuel's Initiation. It's great! Some sounds are just unreal.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x346VoDX3pA

Leo Kottke's medley in Berlin. Great if you like weird tunes:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lnQTC5ICGik

and finally, Andy McKee's Drifting
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ddn4MGaS3N4

i hope you enjoyed!

how would a nylon viper improve this? cool aesthetics? ease of play? improved sound? ovation loyalty?

edit: i just read your posting on the sell/trade forum and got the answers.

Wow!
THANKS for posting that!
I'm a HUGE Al Stewart fan (and Peter White is partly to blame).
I scrolled thru some of the other ones, and found an old "Don Kirschner's" taping of the same song from '77. In this one White is using a 1613 Classical.

It's almost 3am, and I just logged-on after bringing in the guitars from a local solo gig. One of 'em being a 1613 that I have on-loan from Beal. I know a lot of people here a fans of the CountryArtist's, but (for me, anyway) these Classical's just SING when there plugged-in. Got a LOT of compliments on the sound of it . . .

I'm surprised none of our Aussie friends have hooked us up to THIS video by my favourite (bar none-and I know the most popular others) Downunder band The Skyhooks. (Look for the O!)

The album 'Ego Is Not A Dirty Word' contains what my wife and I consider our song. You Just Like Me \'Cos I\'m Good In Bed
(Okay, couldn't find a link for it. But this one's good too.)

And about the best album art - gross joke ever on an LP.

aloha muzza,
i believe this was filmed off of maui at a location called "jaws". 50-60 foot waves are the norm during the winter months. the only way to catch them is to be towed in by the jet skis. one of the guys i went to high school with on o'ahu, whose name is buzzy kerbox, has surfed these waves for many years and is featured in several surfing documentaries.

I think that's a mis-type, SB "Armpit Sound."
But if he can actually play something else, you might just have to call it experimental art.

The "Some Guy" (in quotes) was supposed to be a joke Paul. I've been known to refer to Chet Atkins as "Some Guy" too. Besides, our French friends have already gotten a piece of me. I ripped the tip of my right middle finger tonight practicing Windy & Warm because of watching "those guys" play it. :) It takes a whole new set of calluses to play that way. For now they get a coat of superglue. I've almost got it though. After watching those video clips about a hundred times I'd say Pascal, Pascal & Adrien have a pretty good sense of humor.

This guy serves up some tasty blues solos.

The first two songs on that page are not by him, go down to the third one to start.

Quinn Sullivan , plays some crappy no-name guitar but not bad for his size!

The look on his face at the end of the second tune is 'priceless!'

I missed you all too. I'm still gettin' over the shoulder surgery. Physically and monetarily.
By the way, I miss your old tag line. I have it as a bumber sticker on my car. As far as the new tag line, I hate to even think about it.

This is Tommy Emmanuel as I filmed him at the Grand Ole Opry on June 15th. I took my wife there thinkin' we were going to sit through two hours of bluegrass. I did not read the program prior and was totally dumbfounded when Tommy walked on stage. Video cameras are forbidden but I could not resist trying to get my guitar hero on film.

"The Tall Fiddler" featuring Tommy Emmanuel and Ricky Skaggs. Our second night in Nashville. I stayed at the hotel watching our youngest daughter and enjoying my new Takamine EF75. My wife and our two eldest daughters went back the the Opry to see Brad Paisley. Brad introduced Tommy Emmanuel as a special guest who played two songs, this one with the bluegrass pickers. Shirley filmed this for me.

I watched that Grand Ole Opry Show on TV. Those 2 songs were edited out. They showed a Travis song done by Brad and Tommy! Was a pretty good show.

hey dave,
i've got the travis song filmed by my wife also. it was explained to us in the audience that each show is broadcast live around the world and to 38 states. the only thing is, ya' gotta sit through all the commercials that are also being broadcast live. i learned alot about martha white flour that night!

interesting clip with marcel dadi. this appeares to be some sort of name that tune game with nearly 100 guitarists playing. spotted another slothead (blue) in the foreground as well as many other O's. this is part 1, there is also a part 2 which can be viewed by clicking on the appropriate link to the right of this clip.

The slothead can be seen at 2:24 into the video. I wonder if it was a special order, an original, or possibly one of Marcel's?

Thanks Matt, great sound and good music !!

Lanaki, the Slothead is not blue but "lilas" and was custom made for Marcel.
She's now in a private collection in East of France.
You can see some rare pics of that guitar HERE.

Haven't been here in a while. (I've come back to the OFC--once again--because I'm looking for another Elite T.)
Anyway, I saw this thread, so...
I'm not sure if I ever posted this here. If I did, please accept my apology.

Mama Let Him Play ...What happens to Old Rockers who survive too much money, too many drugs, too much adulation. And then grow young again.

I'll still always have the memory of a young Jerry Doucette playing lead for Seeds Of Time (you may know a later version, Prism.) with a lit joint stuck in the headstock strings.
...the 70's, everything the 60's said they were.

Here you are, in good time for Mothers Day. You may want to forward The Mom Song to appropriate parties.
