All the years I've owned an Ovation, I never new there was a Fan Club site. I'm a new member from Toronto and I bought my Balladeer (1111-4) new in Sept. 1971. Still looks great although it's due for a professional set up which will be the first since ever.

| A hearty Welcome to you, Lawrie! That is sweet that you've had the Balladeer since '71 as the original owner. I'll bet it's a tone monster after all these years. |

Location: Toronto | Thanks guys. Definately a tone monster. The top has also darkened quite nicely over the years. I don't play it much this time of year, for I prefer that it stay in the case with a humidifier during the winter months. I pull it out and start playing it in the spring.

I actually bought the guitar at Steve's Music in Montreal. I was visiting a friend and we were scheduled to play a gig there. He owned an Ovation at the time (and still has his as well) and loved the way the guitar played. Steve's was just a hole int he wall back then.

The board also has a gentler side, composed of a great group of Ovation female-folk. We are few in number, but just as passionate in our love of Ovations. I, too, have an 1111-4, known to the board as "Gertrude," my ol' lady; our family is her second home, but we've had her for thirty years now. She is the matriarch of my Ovation stable.
Anything you could ever want to know about Ovations can be learned here--and anything you may never need to know about anything else you'll probably learn here, too. ;) :D

Location: Chicago | Welcome to the Ovation clan, Lawrie! Like you I have an early 70s Ovation (74 Legend 1117). Honey dark top with awe-inspiring acoustic tone. Just last month I got my second real Ovation inspiration: an 1581-5 Adamas II. I've discovered a new level of quality. It just doesn't stop! |
