For all you stateside OFC Guitar owners out there, the custom carbon case has arrived! What a gorgeous product. It comes complete with its own draw-strung nylon slip cover. It is a work of art all by itself. The black velvet inside is particularly nice against the carbon fiber exterior, and its lightweight is noticeable. This beauty is well worth the weight. I think I need a case for this case. No, on second thought, I need to figure out a way to display this baby in the bandroom all by itself. I wonder if anybody makes a ceiling hanger for guitar cases? Thanks to Al for getting this done.

Sure feels lighter without the benefit of having one of the old or new cases readily available to compare it against. Maybe it just looks lighter. I'll bet one in titanium would really be light.

Since Boise is only a few days' dog sled ride from Colorado (if Slipkid is in charge of the mail) I hope to see mine soon. I was thinking the same thing about displaying it. It would be a shame to put it in the closet with the rest of the cases.
On the other hand, my axe jacket is currently out in the garage airing out, since someone let one of the cats downstairs again over the holidays. Apparently I didn't get all the cat piss smell out the last time. I'd hate to have a cat ruin this case if I left it out for display. Only a couple more weeks and we'll be back down to one cat from 4.

I think he is. I was just thinking that he could put the cat on the shelf next to the AxJacket and leave that there for years too.

I'm thinking of Mark here...just trying to help a brudda out.

Thanks again for the offer, Cliff, but I haven't used the axe jacket that I have, either. I prefer the advice about getting rid of the cats. I've never found a use for them, either. The axe jacket is useful because it gives me another reason to cuss out the cats. Soon the 3 that are boarding with us will be gone and our old cat won't last much longer. Waskel tried to sit on him when he was here, but didn't do a very good job. You would think that being sat on a bunch of times would teach him to get off the chairs, but cats are hard to teach.

Ancient Egyptians considered cats to be gods. Cats have never forgotten that.

Looking forward to getting the case!

Cats train humans because humans aren't as stubborn. They can't be stupid. They know how to go in the cat box, or any other box for that matter, and they can tell time, as long as it's meal time. Ours somehow knows what chair I'm going to sit in next.

Back on track. Came home today to an Ovation box. SWMBO knew the case was coming, so she didn't pitch a fit.
Beautiful piece of craftsmanship. As she said, "You need a nice case for that guitar." She also warned me not to leave it out where the cats could get to it. Almost too pretty to take out. Thanks again, Al.

My wife came upstairs and said I had a big box, EXCITED that I had gotten another guitar!!

We may be running out of room for more guitars but she's never set a limit. She's even offered to allow me to hang more in the master bedroom and her design room.

Don't think I'll go that far. She does have her Koa parlor and Koa uke in her room.

Very unique and beautiful case...maybe more of a collectible than the guitar. My wife thought I need more of the carbon cases for my other guitars.

By the way, first box delivered by UPS that was unmarked, not soiled at all. Amazing.

Here are a couple of pics of the OFC case.

It's absolutely beautiful! But my question is, what do I do with it? It's too good to just put in the closet and store until needed, but I don't want to just use it with any of my guitars. What a problem.....

It came with a nylon cover (bag) that closed at the top with draw strings. But I probably should get a padded cover for it.

And don't forget a dust jacket for the padded cover. And something to protect that.

Maybe a BIG hardshell case to go around that...

I'm thinking about lining the inside of the nylon cover with cat fur to protect the case. Four skinned cats should just about do it.
Tony, I also noticed that the box was in perfect condition. I wonder how they knew there wasn't a guitar inside.

Send me one for six months of going in/out of cars/bars, getting bungeed-down (with three other cases) to a bed of road cases, slide across some wooden dance floor, and used as a "prow" to wedge your way through a crowded room, and various other indignities.

". . need a case for the case . . . need a padded cover . . . don't wanna' hide it in a closet . . ."

It's a GUITAR CASE!!!

It's designed to safely contain your guitar (and take the "hits" - so that your guitar doesn't) while you're transporting it between points A&B.

. . . f@ckin' yuppies . . . .

Yeah, but Cliff just think how nice it'll look in the back of the rover on the way to get latte's at starbucks ???

Actually it IS way too nice to be a guitar case and in the grand scheme of things a complete and total waste of money. Btw, I bought an EXTRA one for another guitar (gloss namm carbon guitar - jesus does THAT combo look good). You know what? There is a very distinct possibility that I could be dead tomorrow, and damn it - I'm going out in style.

Jeff. I would be honored to have the eulogy given by a person with your linguistic capabilites. Like I always said "Ya gots a real purdy mouth." Maybe we could have some soft music in the background. I don't know, maybe Cliff could play "Amazing Grace" on the rusty trombone.

I would never have bought this case because it is way too extravagant for me, but I thought the same thing about the OFC guitar. When I finally decided to buy the OFC guitar, I knew it was supposed to come in a special case that Al had worked up as part of the package. There was no way I was going to negotiate over the last OFC guitar because I didn't need the case and lose out because someone else wasn't trying to save a few bucks. My wife is correct. The OFC guitar deserves a special case and this is perfect.
Thanks for calling us yuppies, Cliff. Someone called me that inappropriately many years ago. The "Y" stands for young. I was young then but didn't fit the rest of the definition of yuppie. Now I'm not young and even less yuppie.

That is gross. I'd rather deal with cat hair than look at that picture. One cat gone today. Two more go by the end of the month and then we'll just be left with our chair stealing, axe jacket peeing old Siamese.

Actually aren't the cases free, you just have to buy a $5000 guitar right?

A bit less than that. All sorts of other cool stuff I may never use, like the gig bag, came too. I still haven't got a new stylus so I can play the record. The guitar gets played as much as all the others combined, however.
