Priced at $2800.00 U.S. or best offer Up for Sale is an absolute treasure of an Ovation Adamas II, 6 string Guitar. Acoustic and electrical. Masterfully crafted at the New Hartford Factory in Connecticut, U.S. Pristine perfect condition and has never been played ... SIXTH one made - #0006. and numbered : 1681-9 - seems that they numbered the Protos seperately and production run was included in the whole Adamas Amount.  Owned by one of Mr. Charlie Kaman's Ovation key employees and friend, and kept stored in his private, temperature controlled collection until he passed away approximately a year ago when his family unveiled them. Please note the price listed is in U.S. Dollars. Or paid in equivalent to US price if using other currency. Knobs or other 'one offs' might be present. I have been in contact with the the Ovation factory to verify guitar and history. Their leading ovation man suggests it's year is 1980 - 81. The fine white binding ring around the Top appeared aroung 1981, so this guitar is possibly from 1980. Certainly a very interesting piece of American Guitar Luther History. A stunning urthy chocolate brown and lighter tones on the body...Neck has inlaid pieces resembling a Celtic knot. Included for you: There is a nearly new guitar case that comes with this , complete with lock key. It is NOT the original case ( if there ever was one, I am not sure), but is a strong black hard shell ovation guitar case, fully lined and retails around $200.00. Also, it has just had a brand new battery installed. As for shipping. Guitar is presently in Ontario, Canada. It is possible if someone buys from the U.S. that we can discuss options where to ship from given I sometimes travel to the east coast. International shipping fees are estimated. Seems to run about $85.00 u.s., but I am open to options. I do not make money on shipping, only looking for the safest , most practical method to get it into your hands. A satisfactory Local pick up can be arranged of course. Feel Free to contact me with any questions about this guitar's history or this sale...

John Budny checked the guitar recently...

Hi Guys, sorry the photos are reversed :-) The guitar is in real a right-handed model!!!

It has no skunk-striped neck. It is a two-piece mahogany-neck. I will post a photo of the headstock soon :-)

This was the guitar of a Ovation Employee and a very good friend of Charlie Kaman. Very, very nice piece of Ovation History - stunning!!!

You are right Kurt. In the beginning they experimentet with Adamas I Tops. I had another Adamas II Pototype that I sold to Jerome that had an Adamas I Top also... The Factory just finished the body in prototype stadium and gave it to the German Distributer Meyer for demonstation an to display it on the Musik Messe Frankfurt. The neck on that guitar was years later attached by the German distributer...
The buyer of this Instrument will get the complete story about this special guitar #0006 .... :-)

Ralph, I still owns your Adamas 2, it's a beauty and I cherish it because it was my first Adamas.
I've always been a fan of A2 because the neck is much comfortable to my opinion and these guitars sounds like no others.
To be honest, I try to resist to buy this 006...

The 2 pc walnut neck was difficult to carve (profile) on Adamas I. Once you have handled 1000's of necks it is easy to pick up the slightest variation. I will often grab an Ovation and check the neck profile for accuracy.

I recollect the right angle die grinder with 60 grit 3" disc hogging off walnut material..it was a very dense wood and created super fine dust when carving. You really had to lean into it or the air tool would simply drift and bounce away from desired result. It was the carver's responsibility to get it right because after die grinding the profile, that was permanent. Yes, we would receive the approx. shape from the facsimile machine but often it was way heavy and much material remain and have to be removed.

I preferred shaping the 5 pc necks and always felt they had superior profile (mod V).

As a lefty player this is very tempting! But I do prefer the 5 piece necks...

Ovation - Adamas Neck

Ok, now after actually reading the listing I see that it is NOT left handed... What is with that?! Image hosting sites do that if you don't pay or something??? I've seen this now at least 5 times!

It's an insult to lefties everywhere...

Cheers,
