Location: Always beautiful canyon country of Utah | I think it is bizarre that on a forum such as this with a bunch of like minded people (I didn't say guys) very few are willing to post their location in their profile. I mean they don't even post their general location such as "Pacific Northwest" or "Seattle" etc. Some do but many don't. We seem to trust each other when buying guitars (which involves exchange of money) but not on revealing where we live. Am I missing something here?? |

Location: Central Massachusetts | hmm, just glanced through the 10 most recent threads in the General Posting area, and the vast majority of participants had location info shown. Maybe it's a matter of the people who don't spend much time here not bothering to fill out their profile?
Are you in Moab? |

When the Mothership returns and puts things in order I may lighten up.

Location: Always beautiful canyon country of Utah | OK I take it partly back. The long time members here who post a lot are well known to us and their location is not a secret. Maybe it is the newer folks. It just seems like quite often I click on a profile to see where someone is and there is no information whatsoever. And yes dvd I am in the valley of paradise (Moab). |

Location: Central Massachusetts | Dave, my aunt and uncle have a place in Moab. We visited for a week a couple of years back.. what a wonderful place.. although a tad bit hot in August! I'll have to meet you at Miguel's for a tasty margarita the next time I make it out that way. ;-) |

I think that's pretty insightful of the forum software to figure that out! |

Post in the Memos for Mr. Ovation to add an andon device to show Popularity/Helpfulness status in the side bar.
Some examples are the ratings for "XX people found this helpful" or "You are two posts away from getting on Al's last nerve".

I find this perception rather bizarre. If you are buying something from someone, you generally willingly exchange your contact information. If someone is planning on burglarizing you, they just need your information, and they certainly aren't likely to give you there's.
Everyone should remember that no matter how busy this site has ever been, only about 1% of the people who visit this site on a routine basis are members. While the majority of the other 99% are likely just fellow musicians, there are thieves, and scammers looking for their next target as well. Online communities are just like any other community, with the only difference being the method of communication.

Location: Always beautiful canyon country of Utah | I'm almost sorry I started this thread and Mr. Ovation's comments are making me re-evaluate my trusting nature. I don't want to live paranoid but I do realize there are some bad guys out there. Maybe I need to stop leaving my Adamas out on the front steps overnight?? |
