Location: seattle, wa | having just received my "new" shiny bowl 12 string, I noticed the paddle on the peg head is not straight. In looking at the old Ovation postings on various sites, it seem all the early one are "crooked".
anyone know why? just curious |

Location: Phoenix AZ | Yes indeed the early ones had a bit of a tilt to the lip. Also the lip was a different contour and thickness. The 6 strings had a stepper headstock angle than later ones (I think 14 degrees vs 10), but I'm not sure that was the case in the 12 string. |

Location: seattle, wa | It appears deliberate. the lip is twice as thick as my 2 classicals. the other Ovation sites that show early pegheads, show tilted paddles on most of them. I don't care, I fact, it's kinds growin' on me.
what I love about the shiny bowl the most is the volume. I have had a bunch of jumbo 12 strings in the past year, only to sell them on for lack of volume. this Ovation is way louder than the Martin j12-16gte, 17" body 12'er I bought new and sold within a month...I mean, it's not even close. |

here's a 68 shiny bowl...same peg head as mine with the "paddle" tilting to the left...not symmetrical...the same site shows early 6 strings tilting to the left also
