Location: Taxed To Death State | Just got back from dropping off my guitar for a little fret work at the new improved KMC repair center. JB let me take a few photos and wanted to let you all know they are open and servicing our beloved O's. It's quite impressive how much stuff they still have there. They are pretty much fully operational and working away on repairs. It's JB, Sherwood & Mike doing the top notch work as before. It's a real nice setup and even has A/C ! The phone number is still the same as well. 860-379-7575.

Could they replace a neck if it was damaged?
If the neck and bowl were both damaged, could they replace both with new ones? |

"We should be good to go by the end of the month. We are setting up the work shop now for repairs. Mike has his area almost complete and is working on some repairs but limited. Should be spraying in a couple weeks too. It is a work in progress and we won’t be able to do everything as in the past. Less top and neck replacements and more top and neck repairs."
Second, here are some quotes from a follow up email from John asking him to provide specifics: - "We are keeping a repair shop here for service and repairs on Ovation and other KMC fretted products."
- "We will be able to do most everything we did except replace necks or tops if they need to be built. We relied on manufacturing for these new parts but don’t have that now."
- "We have a spray booth and...a great finish guy."

We Ovation fans have suffered a long, slow death. As much as it hurt to have the factory go away, I found myself concerned that I had also lost the service department. I'm glad to have Johnny B back online and will not hesitate to send in some work. In fact, I'll be more likley to send in some work. Because .... you don't know what you've got till it's gone. |

| This is, indeed, great news. I wonder who owns this service operation? Does Fender have anything to do with this? If so, I'll stop badmouthing them for a few seconds. Although I own no foreign made Ovations, my 2 are American made, I wonder if it would make business sense for them to do non-warranty repair work, or if they could get listed as a warranty service center, on foreign made ones. Thus, that could get them more business and keep them going. |
