| very nice! wish we could have been there... sure would have been a better day. Char's back in the ICU at Holmes..
If my friends could say a prayer, and maybe raise a voice or two for her I'd appreciate it.
Thanks,

Location: 6 String Ranch | It was a wonderful time. Serge and his wife are magnificant hosts, and yes tolerant too!
Really good to meet people that I've been talking to over the last few years.
Now here's a serious question.
How many "gatherings" have there been? This will get interesting in a few years when the number gets big.
There was NJ at Amy's house, Zillafest and g8rbowl, Two in Texas? one in NC last year, just before the Ford Explorer wreck. Denver? The NW? Three at Moody's? 5 at the factory.
Help me out here and let's get a good count and then add to it. Imagine what fun we can have at the 100th.
Thanks |

Before he left for his hotel last night he "ordered" us not to post his Burt Reynolds pose on the internet. Of course, that meant that he hadn't left the driveway before we uploaded that shot!
Here's the real porn. A special gift to the first person (not in attendance) who can correctly identify all of the guitars:
Here's a better view of the ones in back:
A special THANK YOU to Mrs. g8r for all her hard work, great cooking, and incredible patience.
Many thanks also to everyone who came - it was a special, wonderful, enjoyable and memorable weekend of good music and companionship. Can't wait for Southern Style Jam #2 later this year! |

Thanks That's a great idea, Beal. Even the fiddyth would be a kick if we're closer to that. Probably deserves it's own thread, eh? |

I DID in fact get a bit of an "audio" report on my cel phone.
Unfortunately, so did singer/songwriter Richard Shindell, being that it was during a real quite passage of one of his songs during his concert that I was attending when my cel phone "went off" (F@ckWit here forgot to shut his phone off . . .)
Did I mention that the concert was taking place in a Church?? (one with SUPERB acoustics, I might add, as I (as was everyone else, were) able to discerne every little subtle, annoying nuance to my ringtone. To make matters worse, my phone (which was in my coat) was hanging on a hook out of my reach so I couldn't get to it in time, and had to just "Wait It(uncomfortably)Out" . . .
I thought you guys sounded pretty good.
(I can't "vouch" for "The Church of the Pissed-Off" . . but hey, whaddya gonna do . . . .) |

Sergio, Thanks for all of the hospitality. And thanks to your wife for all the great food! That was a great weekend. It was great to see a bunch of old farts, I mean friends, and to meet some new ones too. Beal, thanks for bringing all those AMAZING guitars, and thanks for sharing all those great songs of yours too!
Now I'm all primed for Amelia Island! And after that South Carolina maybe??? And then... |

Beal brought more nice guitars than any one person should see in a lifetime, much less own. Sorry Mike (CL) had to duck out for his flight before Beal and Raine got there. What a blast to get together with the "family". Looking forward to the next one! |

Believe the 1st one was the 1st Annual SoCal get-together in Irvine, back in 2004. Problem is, other than Paul's house, it was the 1st and only. |

Oh so close! Cliff caught ya on the only one you missed. That is indeed Beal's 1994C prototype - with the most beautiful bearclaw figure I've ever seen.
The prize: g8rbowl keychain/luggage/case tag made by TRBoy hisself, plus a bound copy of the songbook.
PM me a shipping addy for your prize. |

So, . . what was the concensus on the 2080D??? I had the Elite before (longneck) and really didn't like it that much, but after playing Beals, well thats a different animal altogether. It sounds good even with me playing it. When Beal plays it, it sounds heavenly. I think the ground in Gainesville is still vibrating after that. |

So, . . what was the concensus on the 2080D??? Awesome, incredible, superb - adjectives elude me. The bass is loud and long, you feel the rumbles through your belly all the way to your spine, but they by no means overwhelm the mids and highs, which punch through like church bells.
The contour bowl sits comfortably without rolling. The wiiiide neck took a little bit of getting used to, but made for clean finger picking.
Overall a marvelous guitar. I played a blues number on it with Beal backing me up (one my wife has heard so many times it's part of her background noise) and she actually commented on how great we sounded. I could not have gotten a higher compliment, and it's all due to that guitar. |

Location: Orlando, FL | The 2080D is an amazing guitar. It took a little getting used to the really wide long neck. When I first started playing it I found I wasn't quite reaching far enough to grab the chords. And it was the first contour bowl I'd played for more than a minute or two, very comfortable. But the sound of that guitar is sooooo sweet and booming.
I really enjoyed the nationals too! And the O-resonator, and the slotheads, oh baby the slotheads!
I was surprised how much lighter the original slotheads were than the 47 RI.
Thanks again to Sergio and his wife for hosting this! It was a really good time all around. It was great jamming with everyone. And the food was excellent.
I'm hoping we're gonna do this every 2 or 3 months! My wife and I are starting to talk about maybe trying to make out to the Northwest for July 4th. |
