I agree with Beal, it may be good to take a year off ( :( ) and let everything settle down with the new ownership. |

I'm sure they are more concerned to know if there will be a Factory in CT, or if anyone will be working there before we start hounding them about visiting.
I sure hope Alpep doesn't see this thread... |

Not having the tour would be a bit of a bummer since, like Mark, this may be "my year" to make it. And I held off on Amelia since I had to choose one. But I appreciate all the hard work by some, that I'm reaping rewards from, in the form of some pretty cool buddies.
Either way, I've got OFC family, so I'm a winner. |

1. Ask what kind of strings go with my Ovation.
2. Buy sets of string tubes of various sizes.
3. Ask Al about the next factory tour.
4. Ask how to post pictures.
Any others? |

Llama and Alpaca are in the same family actually. Amongst many other things that come from this area, there are a lot of Alpaca's.
If you haven't seen an Alpaca on the hoof, they are quite fun. Very docile, each with their own personality. The most popular phrase heard at the farm any given day is... "mom... can I have one? please can we take one home???" The yarn and garments at the store have tags... "generously donated by -insert name-" The name is that of the Alpaca that donated it's fur. Maybe donate is an odd word, but unlike Sheep or other animals that get harmed a little in the process, an Alpaca would be in big trouble if not sheered. Yep, quite a fun little wonder. |

I know very well that this event is never a sure thing. This year, more than any year before, I would not be surprised if did not happen. I can only hope for the sake of those who have put it off way to long, that it does.
I'm sure there are many deciding factors that goes into making this thing happen. I'd just like to say that if the expense of the ski lodge, P.A., and pizza turns out to be a deal breaker I would be willing to green up for my share of that. We could be Ovation's guest for the day then our friends at the factory could be our guests for the evening.
Just my two cents.
Now pardon me while I road-runner (meep-meep) right out of here. |

| Either at the Tour last year or just after the point was raised that for a lot of people the actual factory visit was no longer necessary and that the "annual convention" could actually be held anywhere - possibly a little more centrally (in the US not the Atlantic) and easier for more people to get to.
What happened to the idea? Did we all have another drink and forget it?
I want to see The Carolinas and the Pacific North West, but who's listening to me? I've read that Montana is empty - we could make a lot of noise and scare the Black Helicopter survivalists hiding out in the woods. |

I've been thru 3 times so the nuts & bolts part of it is getting a little stale but I still get a buzz walking into the engineering room to see the Wall Of History and all the latest ideas sitting out for us to play with. And putting Rick Hall on the hot seat at the Q&A session is always fun. If it happens, you owe yourself that trip at least once. |

Location: Boise, Idaho | I really like factory tours. I love seeing how stuff is made. I love watching people actually build stuff, just to see how it's done. Maybe it's because I envy people who do something productive for a living. Even my wife likes factory tours, although I don't think she'll go to an Ovation tour.
I know it doesn't appear like I have anything else to do, I rarely have the time to travel for pleasure, unless it is scheduled way in advance. For the last 10 years or so, I have had trials scheduled every month for more than a year out, sometimes 5 a month. This year things slowed down and I blocked out the last part of May, hoping I could make it. Nuff said. |

Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | For those who have not yet made a tour, the Hamer visit is also enlightening. This is truly a unique opportunity to see a full blown custom shop filled with skilled craftsmen and women hosted by none other than the company founder himself. The custom Adamas shop, literally an open corner in one of the Ovation factory rooms, was a real eye opener. The area devoted to the brand is unbelievably quaint, with, what, maybe a half dozen workers at most in an area about the size of your living room. Efficient teamwork is a must. There is so much to see that I have to believe a second or third walk-through would allow one to see things missed the first time or two. |
