Has anyone compared these to the laminate mahogany or spruce top Applause tenor ukes? In particular, the unplugged sound?

aloha todd,
i have not played an ovation ukulele that "speaks" to me acoustically. however, plugged in, nobody makes one that sounds better. i am a bit biased/spoiled being here in hawaii and surrounded by professional ukulele players. i have recently played the koa version and, IMO, would not buy it for acoustic playing. i am jonesin' for one to do plugged in gigs with though.

I was on the Big Island last spring. Saw the Volcano, went to mauna kea observatory, ate at Blaines in Hilo. What a great place, definately one of the best locations on the planet.
