With ovation ending their USA production, I have been thinking about adding an ovation 1651-7 to the collection (John Lennon Legend Limited). I have seen a few with truss rod covers, and some with the K bar necks (I think). Don't think I could score a reissue, but there are a lot of good opportunities in the used market for one of these right now for an 80 to 82 or 83 or so. Was hoping to hear some thoughts from folks who have aquired, held on to these. Would also like to hear opinions about K-bar version vs. standard truss rod version (other diferences) . I currently do not have an A braced legend (use to have a patriot and loved the color). I have a 40th annviersary balladeer reissue along with a 40th anniversary Glen Campbell 6 string.

Hey Bob. It would be he same as the patriot I believe. At least the pre-Kaman bar one would. I was under the impression the 1651-7s were originally the leftover patriots

I usta have the Kaman bar one and decided to keep my Pre-Kaman Anniversary over it. SWMBO still thinks it was her favorite. It is with a very close friend, so still in the family.

Bought one new in 1982. Was my only guitar for the next 18 years. Loved it immensely and still do. Never an issue with it. Ever. Never gave the heavy neck a second thought until I started buying the newer models from the 90's and 00's. Was also fascinated by the stereo output, and ended up buying a relatively complex stereo amp/PA set-up to take advantage of it.

Damon, what a beautiful shot. Didn't know they might have been leftover patriot's . that is pretty cool.

ProfessorBB, glad to hear the longevity and success you have had with yours over time. have to try out that stereo output. Always regretted selling the patriot, but i decided to put the 1651 on layaway so in 30 days, i should have something to show off.
