Location: Michigan | I need to lower the string action on my Millineuim CB and I am concerned about Fu&*ing up something on the guitar.
Should I do it myself or take it in?
It seems fairly simple but I dont want to get into something that is over my head.
Is it only letting the string action off and removing the bridge and remove a shim or two or can there be other issues? Thanks for any advice.GWB |

Location: kansas | Since I've done this on my O, I'll pass out a couple of comments.
-lossen the strings until you can raise all of the strings at least a 1/2 inch or more at the bridge with the palm of your hand (a better approach would be to remove all the strings).
-take of the back cover plate; you can use one hand to push the pickup wire thru as you lift the pickup out of the bridge.
-I never could get the end caps off but you don't need to - to remove the pickup case.
-there are multiple shims under the pickup case; some are flat and thin some are white and angled(thin on one end and thicker at the other end).
(removing one of the thin shims would be a good starting point)
- make sure to replace the angled shims with the thick end at the Bass E side.
sure wish I had a camera when I had done this... |

Location: Michigan | Well I remembered that I already had all of the shims removed when I bought this and had it setup.I now know what a pickup looks like .Theres nothing to it but a peice of soft plastic with 6 little peices of copper inserted in it?
I hope the copper side is the one that sits up toward the strings.

sure wish I had a camera when I had done this... This is interesting. I have a whole bunch of shims from the mothership and your post got me thinking that this might be why my action changes a bit recently....so...out comes the dial calipers.
All of mine are the same at both ends, no tapers. Oh well....next issue. |
