Hi,
Thanks for all the info here on the site! I'm still having trouble dating my guitar as it seems the serial number and model number are in conflict with one another. According to the serial number (343571) it was made in the mid 80s but according to the model number (1312D) it was only sold in the mid 90s. It was purchased for me as a gift in the late 90s and I'd always been under the impression that it was preowned.
Ideas?

My family is looking at an overseas move and I'm contemplating selling it but wanted to know the details so I could have a fair asking price.
Thanks for your help.

Thanks! I saw that resource but the model number is 1312D, not just 1312. It's listed separately on Ovation's spreadsheet. Additionally, the sticker inside lists it as an Ultra Deluxe and made in Korea - again in conflict with the resource you linked to. Other ideas?

"lists it as made in Korea"

That negates using the serial number to date it. Non USA Made guitars have warranties issued from the store where they were sold, so that is the only place the serial number may have meaning. Knowing the guitar was offered in the 90's may be as close as you get. As Daman said, you can post in the General Forums and maybe someone else with the same model can speak up and you can compare serial numbers and dates of purchase to narrow it down a little.
