Location: Phoenix AZ | FOR SALE: COLLINGS MT2 MANDOLA
COLLINGS ... need I say more. Renown as one of THE premier builders of mandolins. But have you ever longed for something just a tad bit bigger (shut up Cliff) ???
Up for sale is my personal Collings Mandola. This is the top-shelf version with adirondak spruce top, crazy flamed maple, tortoise binding and all the bells and whistles. Doesn't get any better than this. Absolute perfect 100% new condition.
$2500. including S/H in the 48 US states.
So what the heck is a Mandola? It's basically a 15.9" scale version of a teardrop mandolin. Think of it as a viola is to a violin. The mandola is tuned a 5th lower than a mandolin (C-G-D-A) and it's that low C pair that really give it the unique tone. You'll hear mandola a lot in traditional irish folk music. According to wiki Alex Lifeson of Rush played an electric mandola but I can't identify on what song. I would love to hear THAT.
Here's the COLLINGS website with all the technical details.

Location: Phoenix AZ | Yes, thanks Stephen. Indeed this is definitely a looker, and you know they ain't cheap (around 4G new). Sadly I just don't use it and would love to see it land with somebody that will do it justice. |
