I wouldn't normally post an Ebay sale here, but this is an excellent opportunity for anyone trying to obtain one of the best instruments made by Kaman... and it is a Buy-it -Now

EBay "The bowl is in great shape, except that the brown coating is flaking off. " Seems strange, wonder why. After a light sanding, there is a Rust-O-lem (howerver spelled) that is attaches to metal, etc., that someone could use - nice dark burnt copper which would probably look like the older Adamas bowl. Heck, I even used it on my patio door and screen two years ago and it still looks good. In fact, might even use it to overspray the top of a CA project guitar.

That's what those big brass belt buckles will do to your guitar.

I sent my second 1537 in to the factory for a bowl repaint once, and they did a great job for a reasonable price. (OH... I guess THAT ain't happening anymore)...But yeah... everything else on THIS guitar seems to be spot on, so a shot of good quality paint, after a light sanding would bring her back to a close pristine. I wish I had the extra money to invest in it. These are going to become even more of the gem they already are.

Speaking of that... I think I'll rant just once more about the 1537... After going on a collecting/buying/selling/trading spree for the past 15 years or so, I always have come back to the 1537 as my favorite of all instruments. The pure quality workmanship and technological genius that went into this model is beyond words. There is something very special about both the playabilty and sound of this particular guitar model that has always seemed ... well...magic. It is the first Ovation guitar I ever owned, purchased used in 1986, and it surpassed every imagination I had since reading obout its production. It carries a very nice, full, bass, clear pronounced and balanced mids, and bell-like highs, with every note all the way up the fretboard clear and balanced. The harmonics are unmatched by any other guitar I've played, and they are built fairly tough for a wood-top. I still have my 1581- 8 Adamas II, and love it for its unrivaled booming bass, but if it came down to only one to keep... it would always be the 1537 for me. I rarely have to tune it after new strings have settled in. As a matter of fact, I take enjoyment asking traditional wood-topped Martin/Gibson/taylor owners if they need to use my instrument as a tuner (: If you've never had a chance to try one of these, you are missing one of the finest guitar playing experiences of your life! Yeah...I AM predjucice. After owning 4 different ones with the same results, it has earned the braggin' rights in my book.

I just read what bvince said and I totally agree. The 1537 has changed not only my perception of Ovations, but guitars in general.
It's that good.(and I own an FD14)
