Location: Illinois | I've recently bought a 1657 on bay, which will arrive in the next week or two. The Ovation web site lists the pickup on this model as a stereo piezo. This conjours up images of the 50's Gretsch guitars with the top three strings coming out of ons channel and the bottom three coming out of the other channel. Assuming that the pickup/preamp still functions what should this system actually do?

Location: Detroit Mi | Hey Lono! - Welcome to the OFC ! ( I see that your other post this eve was your first ) . I think you will find this is a nice site for anyone who enjoys Ovation Guitars. In a week or two when your new 1657 arrives you'll need to show us all!

Location: East Wenatchee, WA | If it is the same as my 1537, you have two Jacks. If you plug only into the "mono" jack, you get mono sound.
If you use both jacks, you get 1,3,5 out of one and 2,4,6 out the other (can't remember which goes to which, but does it matter).
welcome. |

| Congrats Lono, and welcome to the board! Very nice guitar you have coming. Everyone's right so far on the mono/stereo jacks, I have the same on my 1619 and 1537. Make sure you post pix and a review when it arrives! |

if you like that, you should think about upgrading one of your guitars to an HexFX preamp. Stereo with a lot of other possibilities (in fact six):
- E and A one side, D,G,B and E the other (2/4)
- 3/3
- alternating (as you know it)
- pan effect (to difficult for me to explain in english)
- FX (two ways, one slower, one faster, where the strings are "surrounding" themselves, which sounds great!)
HexFX on ovationtribute
There were some guitars that came with it: the '96 Collector's, some Koa models and a 12string Legend, to name some.

Location: Illinois | Thank you all for the replies. In the Ebay listing the photos show one output jack. I thought it might require a wye cable with a stereo plug at one end or something of that nature. I can't imagine having a need for stereo, but I thought I should know it works. The posibilities mentioned do sound intrigueing though. |
