I may have the chance to grab an 1127 for a good price. I've been shown photos but haven't seen it in person yet. I searched here for the model number and learned a little bit, but I'm looking for more info. Having just moved, my Ovation book is in a box....somewhere, which leaves y'all as my primary resource.

What I know:

Claimed 1127 model and calling it a Glen Campbell
No apparent cracks in the (lousy) photo
Burst finish on top
No truss rod cover? assuming K-bar neck
Oval silverish/bluish? Ovation made in USA label (hard to tell, they used a flash)
Brown hard shell case that is unlined? assuming lining tore and they pulled it out

What I'm waiting to find out:

Serial number so I can get help dating it
when I can go look at it

I know it's the worst question to ask, but here goes: assuming it checks out and is in good shape what would you consider a fair price? $300? It's an honest to goodness made in the US Ovation after all. Thanks in advance for your knowledge and input.

The 1127 was called the Glen Campbell Artist and is from the late 70's/early 80's. The missing TRC would have had his name on it.

If it's in good shape, I would charge more than $300 for one.

I found an 1127 on Craigslist a couple months ago. I looked at a couple before I found this one, and they were real rough... This one is quite nice, with no cracks in the wood, and one short finish crack. It needed some work and a set up, but cleaned up nice. I absolutely LOVE the sound and feel of this guitar. If anything ever happens to it, I will replace it with the same model.

They did put the K-Bar in some of them when they moved to that technology. One of the players here put a GC TRC on his just for the look.

About the time of the K-Bar, Ovation also went with the A bracing in their Legends and GC Artists. Some of us prefer that sound to the older VT bracing. Some prefer the VT sound.....

Good point moody - they both have their charms. I think mine is s/n F962 and has a sound all its own. Picked it up for $450 a few years back...
