Location: Vancouver Island, BC | I bought a new '08 LX in 2011. Factory warranty registration accepted. It is black, and looks, feels and plays like a work of art. A great example of what came out of the mother ship.
Does anyone know when production ended for the LX models? |

I'm guessing.
But when the Balladeer and the Elite were moved to Korea... Then the Legend...
That was pretty much The End.
If you look at the Ovation Serial Number Chart HERE
You will see that in 2007 there were 8927 USO's made.
In 2008 there were 1768 USO's made.
In 2009, only 945 were made.
In 2010, 771. And only 165 in 2011.
I am thinking that after 2008 everything is Custom Order.
So unless someone ordered a Custom LX... There wasn't any "production".

LX was successful. But one school of thought is that it will/would be MORE successful if it could be built for less cost. So off to Asia they go ...

I think it was introduced with the 05 Collector and the contour bowl. It was a big year for innovation for Ovation. |

To bad that 1) there are less in the used market and 2) how much they now cost if you want one.

Hey... anyone else remember that guy who... at all the OFC tour Q&A sessions, would always comment on how Ovations were to in-expensive? |

Location: Central Massachusetts | I bought as my first Ovation a Balladeer LX in January of 2004. One of the first to ship, as I recall. So the LX serial numbers likely date to 2003. The LX's were around for a year or two before the contour bowl came along.

I guess the '05 es Collectors introduced the contour bowl.
The '09 catalog (which was widely available at the time) shows the LX w/Contour bowl and that nice neck set-up. Maybe a final marketing effort, before going off-shore?
My LX from '08 is a C779-5 Custom Legend (mid depth bowl), as shown in the '04 catalog.
Looks like things faded fairly quickly after '08/'09?

Location: Jet City | According to the serial list, my Custom Elite was built in 2010. I bought it when the Ovation Roadshow came through town that November. It was a show special, must've been one of the last production ones. |

Location: SoCal | If anyone is seriously interested in an LX (what I call transparent red), I had helped one of my guys (Rudy) get a new one through Al...let him pay me off for a while. He logged on once or twice back then but he has forgot his password. He wants to sell but knowing him, he might want a little more than what Al charged. Course, he may just want what it cost. I am not part of a deal as I got my money out of the deal with him.
I have to believe it in excellent conditon as he is very careful. However, let me know if you are serious and I can connect you with him. Maybe this could dispel the 'no good deed goes unpunished'.
Did get screwed by a long-term member of the OFC when I helped him on several guitars...even reported it finally as a bad debt on my 2013 tax. |

The Al DiMeola CL was a deep bowl, but not an LX.

Location: moline,illinois | I am not that familiar with all the ovation lines.I thought maybe there was something like the 1767 legend deep bowl in the lx line.
It does seem to me there aren't that many deep bowl center hole models.Do you have a price in mind for Al Dimeola CL.
I've looked for 1769's but anything I find Is either beat up or expensive.PM me if you want to discuss a sale. |

Nope I think the replacement of bowls was gradual, for example I have a 6756LX with mid bowl, that was gradually replaced by 2056LX with contour bowl. I think there were at least two years where both of them were in the catalogue with pretty much the same specs and price except for the bowl. |

Location: Jet City | I was speaking to deep bowls. Only the contour deep was available. The mid bowl LX was always available as far as I know... at least until until all US production stopped.
