Does anyone have recommendations for an 8 channel snake, and a DI box. I have a decent PA with speakers but no snake. I am hosting a huge singer/songwriter contest where I work, (university of CT in Storrs). Anyways for years I set off to the side and had to run around to check the sound. So if I have things right, I need:

1 - 8 channel snake (going to get a 30' one)
2 - channel DI box
2 - 30' speaker cables (mine will not reach the PA if moved back 30')

I have a very small budget, and I am concerned about the quality of the lower end items listed above.

Any help?

Jim

There are a few snakes out here that have a couple speaker lines in them...if that helps....should be ok for no more than 30 feet. For most set-up - what you are really getting would be called a sub snake or stage snake...here is a hundred footer...remember a good cable in the lengths we are talking here with the right impedience set up cannot be too long but one foot short is a pain...spend the extra to get 100 feet.

Not sure if Al deals in this market or not.

The only way to go. If it's a one-off type thing (or couple times a year), save your money and rent.

Rent it all.. mic's , stands, cables, etc..
