The built-in tuner in my OP-50 preamp stopped functioning a couples of weeks ago (no response when I press the tuner button). The preamp is still working fine. I called the HK dealer & they told me it can't be repaired & I have to replace the whole preamp unit.

Wonder if it is true or there is any way I may try to repair the tuner only? Replacing the whole preamp is quite expensive & would cost around $300 (according to the dealer)....

Appreciate your suggestion.

Thanks, Andy

Are you the Original Owner?
If so it is guaranteed. If not, contact the Mothership.
I think that may be cheaper than going through a dealer.
After all, to replace it would just mean taking one out and putting the new one in...
Good Luck with that!

Yes, I'm the original owner & bought it brand new from the dealer (but about 3 years ago so warranty has expired already).

Wonder whom should I contact in the Mothership if I want to get it replaced directly?

Thanks, Andy

I have never bought a New US Ovation, but I thought that they had a Lifetime warranty on Parts, and I was just thinking that they could send you a new Pre-amp, and you could plug it in.

I would PM Alpep, since he is an Authorized distributor and all that.
He could give you John or Kim's or one of them folks' contact address.
Or he could hook-you up with an OP-50

[Even my CC44 came with a five year warranty]

Thanks all for the info...

BTW, wonder if it is Ovation's standard policy for 5-year warranty or it's just Al's special offering to his customers? The local dealer here in HK always says 1-year warranty for O's (I bought 4 O's from them in the last few years)...
