I hope this isn't out of line for conduct here on the OFC and it's not like I'm getting paid or anything, but I have to give props to my new friends, Scott and Tim of The Lutherie Shop in Des Moines, Iowa. Their reputation speaks for itself. They're an authorized warranty repair shop for Ovation, Martin, Gibson, Guild, Gretsch, and 14 other major and minor guitar companies (you name it, they do it). They do virtually no advertising, because frankly... they don't need it AND word of mouth has given them almost more business than they can do.

Even though they're located in Central Iowa, that doesn't limit their business to just Central Iowa OR even just Iowa. Business comes in from all over the Midwest and for many guitar shops in the Midwest they are their "GO TO" guys when that special project needs done or that serious resurrection must be done.

Here's an article about them in the Business Record magazine:

Check out their website and click on the link at the bottom marked, "Projects" to see some pretty amazing repair, refurbish, and recovery projects that they've done:

Supporting your local Luthier or Tech is always welcome!

For most of us this is fun and games but for them it's a living, they need all the support!

I love it. I looked at the Project pictures for the 2 Martins and the Takamine. They do amazing work. I bet the owner of the Tak with a hole in it was thrilled with the result.

Yea, I was pretty darned impressed with their project photos. That Gretsch rebuild was nothing short of spectacular. I'm guessing that that job might have been one of the owners own pet project, since the amount of work that went into that one would have cost a small fortune. This before and after doesn't even begin to tell it all:
