Hello all,

I'm new to this forum - actually, I'm surprised that I found it. In all the searches I've been doing for a new Ovation guitar, this site only came up today. So I'm not wasting another minute.

For the last ten years I've been playing on a Classic 1613 nylon string (given to me for free, second hand), and it's time for me to get something more suitable to my needs.

I need a nut width of not more than 1 7/8 (the 1613 is 2"), and I am considering a neck length of 14 frets. A twelve fret cutaway seems also to fit my needs, although as yet I have little experience with a cutaway. I need accessability to those higher notes, and my left hand is not large.

I am an amateur, I play mostly fingerstyle, and my preferred styles are jazz, and a bit of classic. Martin Taylor and Joe Pass stuff is what I like. So if there is something significantly different between the 1 3/4 and 1 7/8 nutwidth when playing fingerstyle, I'd be happy to hear..

I'd like any feedback on these models, and especially :

1) I hardly ever play plugged in, so the acoustic unplugged sound is the most important (sound) aspect for me. How do they compare?

2) the models are featured as having a neck width of 1 3/4, but I've heard that there might be a "folk" model with a 1 7/8 nut width. Anyone know something about this?

3) anyone know of somewhere in Europe where they can be had at prices comparable to the U.S. ? For some reason, I'm getting prices sometimes twice as high in Europe than in America.

I might not even be able to have access to playing both these models (for some reason where I live they keep one but not the other), so any user experience feedback is much appreciated.

Thanks very much for any input,
Joe

Thanks, Capo Guy - I'm sticking with nylon. And I suppose that the above models probably sound better than the 1124 (probably wouldn't be able to find one, anyway)..

Thanks, Tupperware - I wasn't aware of this model at all, and it seems that the contour of the body has been redesigned so that it doesn't slip from the leg as much - a problem that has bothered me a bit...
If I could find a 14 fret model with a 1 7/8 nut width, I think that would be ideal for me..
