...surely a stupid question but .....:the ball lug (of the strings) , ... you placed it in a vertical or horizontal? |

| If placed vertically it will seat more securely and conform more naturally to the groove. However, it is probably a matter of personal preference more than anything else, as the position would probably not affect the tone in any way.
I am a perfectionist and always place the ball in the vertical position, because it is appears to be aesthetically correct. But, from the myriad of guitars that I have observed, most people don’t place much emphasis on the position.

Location: Italia, Zianigo di Mirano (Venezia) | .. uhm, and yet it seems to me that the slot on the wood of the bridge is just exact for the horizontal position..ok,I note...thank you all... |

I've got my definitions backwards apparently. I do it that way ^ with the holes horizontal. |

| If I understood correctly, the question was: which was does the "ball" go, not which way does the "hole" go.
Semantics aside, I think we all agree that the correct position, if there is one, is that the ball is placed vertical, therefore, the holes would be horizontal.

From what I have seen, the bridges (to include Adamas) are designed for the ball to be vertical. You wouldn't be able to align the balls with a piece of string or paperclip if it was horizontal.

I assumed it was an old Adamas thing as every other guitar I brought there the holes were horizontal when setup complete.
