Hybrids and thinline acoustic/electrics are not do-all end-all replacements for the rich tone that is provided by a high end acoustic. However, they're close enough for most gig duties, and the convenience, comfort and ease of these unique guitars, plus their ability to play on the dirty side, makes them more valuable for live gigs in my humble opinion. I was a non-believer until I started using one. Since then (about 18 months now) I reach for the Viper first, and only use the other acoustics (primarily EF75 or 1581) if the setlist requires little or no leads. Now that the Viper (EA-68) is off to the Mothership for a refret, I am using the VXT and the Improv in its place. We'll see how this shakes down over the next two months. |

Location: big island | i'm studying up on the viper EA68, thinking as professor and paul t have recommended, it would be a great gigging unit.
seems there are many more black ones available than the natural. i wonder if the finish on the black one shows fingerprints and smudges easy? |
