If I have a new pick-up OCP-1, I have to do a home for the strings, or the strings are supported on the smooth surface and then when they are in tension they dig for themselves their home ? thank you for the answers.... |

What ? ...ciao maremagnum.Scusate se mi esprimo in italiano.Allora,ho cambiato le corde alla CL,ho sostituito le Augustine con le Dogal (d133).Le misure sono le stesse.Solamente il G è diverso : 0,23 (il G Augustine era 0,22). Adesso il G e il D suonate anche a vuoto fanno ....sdleeeeengggg....un liutaio mi ha detto che può dipendere dalla sede del pick-up dove appoggia la corda sul ponte .,e si è offerto di limare il pick-up e fare una nuova sede.Io ho anche un altro pick-up nuovo.....comunque volevo sapere se quando si ha un nuovo pick-up (ocp-1),bisogna far fare le sedi per le corde, oppure una volta che le corde sono in tensione le corde si "scavano" le sedi da sole ....Sorry for the Italian language (...eeeeeeh,Google translator.......not always clear.....

With a brand new bridge/saddle, do you file a notch for the strings to rest in, or do you just let them wear their own grooves? With the one I just got back from a factory refresh, they did not file any notches for the strings.

You file the notches otherwise they will 'skate' all over the bridge when you play it. |

Now, I changed the strings to the CL, I replaced the Augustine with Dogal (d133). Requirements are as the same. Only G string is different: 0.23 (the G string Augustine was 0.24 ). Now the G and D also played in empty .... do .... sdleeeeengggg .... A luthier told me that may depend on the location of the pick-up where the rope rests on the bridge., And has offered to file the pick make-up and a new notch. I have an another pick-up again ..... however I wanted to know if when you have a new pickup (OCP-1) you must do the seats for the strings, or once the strings are tightened the strings "dig" the seats alone ..... |

The bridge (saddle) should not have notches in it.

For what it worth, I replaced a couple of badly worn saddles on OCP-1 with new ones. No filed groove to accommodate the strings was necessary. No unwanted noise noticed. The only problem could be the intonation. |
