Ovation case latches

I have a case where somebody has rigged up a coat hanger wire or something similar to replace the loop bit. I can snap a pic if that helps. A flexing metal loop like from a coat hanger would probably do the job but it sure would be ugly. Does anyone have any tips on how it should be mounted on the lock or if there is a difference in the latches used on different cases?
