They all look good... Really like the Walnut on the RI Slots...
Did you put a pair of the Torties on your FD14?
I've got a set of Walnut for the 47 and a set of Torties for the FD14, though I already have and like Real Ebony on it...
I'm going to apply gold tone to the ferrels for my guitars with gold machines... |

I already have 4 different materials in 2 button sizes. Offering a chrome/gold insert option would have been a nightmare. Guitars with chrome hardware are far more common than gold, so that's what we went with. I'm working on a fix where the insert is counter-sunk and flush, which will happen if we can make the collar smaller and if I can absorb the cost and keep the retail price where it is now. I could have them made without the insert, but the insert pretty much ensures they won't split under tension, like the Schaller ones have been known to.
Dave, GREAT pics, thanks!
Incidently, second batch of full-size walnut sold out within 2 days of me receiving the shipment. I still have some walnut mini. I have stock of rosewood, tortie and ivoroid in both sizes, but full-size ivoroid are running low. |

The buttons are beautiful and those you sent me are very well made. I also understand that most machine hardware is silver...
I'm guessing that, most of us at the OFC were buying for gold machines and I suspect that your buttons, as AfterMarket-UpGrades are going to be evaluated by "Uptight Aesthetes" , though I clearly don't count myself among them.
The counter sink is a great idea |

Those Walunt tuners are fantastic though! Ya got me thinking. They really stand out on that carved slothead. I am thinking about carving a design on the edges like the famous Stradovarius Violins used to have on their tuning pegs.
Nice stuff Paul

I did the same thing on the OFC and Koala guitars, and then installed the ivoroids on the VXT which has very similar if not matching layered ivoroid binding on the body and neck. These buttons are stunning.
Thanks for keeping us supplied, Temp. Now, if you could only send over some Tribal Planet cases as well. Seems like nobody is carrying them in the states anymore. |

A cool suggestion (by Paul) for 12-strings is to alternate pearliod and ivoroid on the mains and octaves respectovely. That way it's easy to grab the correct one to tune.

If the Repro Buttons don't have an adverse effect on the Market Value of the Originals, . . . no. |

For those who couldn't afford an original, the reissue may be the next best thing. I can't imagine anyone thinking they'd rather have a reissue than an original, but I've often been wrong, especially concerning marketing. |
|

For example, if Mercedes would make a reissue of the 300 SL Gullwing, it would have an Airbag, Servo-Steering and lots of other electronics, that won't give you the feel of theoriginal car that it's supposed to be.
Different with guitars. Okay, the OFX Slothead had the newer electronics, but in all other things it was quite near to the original pre-series guitars.
And I am happy to have the chance to get one of this great sounding guitars today. Just because of the sound they provide, not for the history.
And with Al making it possible to order one of them in the colour you want, like my 1187-7, that suits your own wishes - it's even better. Not because it's a fake original, but you'll get a guitar that has the sound the factory doesn't list on stock anymore.

If anyone has better pics, or better still a drawing, that would help. If they can be made they would need to be pre-ordered, I'm not going to have a bunch of these made on that chance that some people "might" buy them. Once I know If they can be made, and I have a price, I can take orders. I'll need orders for 6, maybe 10 sets to make it viable |

Original vs Reissue. Usually the reissue doesn't come close enough and gives them all a bad rep. Like the VW Beetle.
In this case it's a bit like the two Doobie Brothers Bands, The originals are so cool because of what they are but they do have warts, and not all the same warts. These reissues are faithful to the original design and concept but are qualitywise much better guitars. Except for the one with the Witco lable, and that one didn't even get cashews!
I've heard similar things about the Cobras. The original cars were the spoo, but the redos are smoother and better to drive. SOooo you just got to make your choice. |

Sometimes the memories are just better than the reality. I had a Porsche that I thought was the greatest and regretted selling it. Then when I drove the same model years later, I couldn't believe how primitive it was. Old guitars are more primitive than the new ones, but the difference isn't so dramatic. |

When you take off the button make sure the worm stays flush with the body of the tuner. When you slacken off the screw it has a tendency to work it's way out of the tuner body slightly, especially if there's still a little tension on the string. If you don't push it back flush that might be causing the problem. |

Location: Scotland | If you need rosewood I can have some made. They were the slowest sellers, so I didn't reorder this time. |

| I'm not much of a photographer, but here's a shot of my new contour bowl balladeer lx with a set of the full size grained ivoroid..... last of the USAs in this model... also the deal of the century!
Thanks Alpep! and Thanks Master Templeman for getting these produced for us!
Great News!!! my newest granddaughter Lydia Lynne Rindge started walking today, and Char was released from the hospital! she'll be getting OT, PT, and Home Care from the Hospital.. and they'll have the therapists and nurses down a couple times a week. and Char gets to do nothing but rest, recover, and get stronger.
Thanks for the prayers all, it's sure nice to have her home..
Paul, when are you going to have ebonys in stock?

Glenn Glenn, I don't bother producing ebony, as ebony buttons are readily available as a Schaller part. Check out StewMac |

Let me know when the Koa buttons come in. I definitely want a set for my Tacoma EKK19C. |

Location: Jet City | Paul, I just tried to send you a PM, but you're box is full.
I'd like to order some walnuts for the 1537, and would like to know what I need to do to do a special order for the rosewood ones.
Thanks
