Location: Jet City | I finally found a contour bowl to try, and I must say it fits the belly much better.
I was wondering if it was possible to replace the mid bowl on my Elite LX with one.
Has anyone ever done anything like this with theirs? How much would a bowl replacement be? |

Location: Phoenix AZ | I'm sure anything is po$$ible. Although I think usually they replace the bowl and top as one unit. To be honest I think you would make out better financially by selling your ELX and get a proper new ELX-CB.

So for you experts out there, what's my best option for a USA model with a contour bowl, a cut-away, and ebony fretboard? While I'm at it, I may as well go with something a bit louder than my Elite. Though it's great plugged in, and has the most beautiful tone acoustically, it has a hard time keeping up with my friends and the volume of their wood boxes (unplugged). |

Location: Warren,Pa. | Elite T w/Contour bowl and OpPro. I don't think you can get a better sounding Ovation at any price. Everything more expensive is just more eye candy.

They wouldn't perform a Bowl/Top switch, you'd just need to get another guitar! It was part of Bill's master plan.

Location: Warren,Pa. | The factory won't put a new bowl on an existing top. The 2 are glued together and it's not cost-effective to do the surgery necessary to separate the two. In your case you would wind up with your original neck; everything else would be new (I suppose they would use your original electronics, but the price of the project would include the time to remove the electronics from the old top/bowl assembly and install them in the new top/bowl.)
In other words, sell this guitar and buy another.
The only exception to this might be if your old guitar had enough sentimental value to you that tou'd want to save the neck.

Location: Boise, Idaho | I tried a 2006 Koa Collector over the weekend and changed my opinion. I tried one in 2006 and it didn't fit. A couple years and a few pounds later and I really liked the comfort and the sound of the Koa top. It seemed like the Koa was warmer after a couple years. |

Location: Omaha, Nebraska | I do like what I hear with the Contour bowls and am in sync with Mark on this one. I have #147 of the 2006 KOAs and it continues to improve. I do think the contour seems to boost the lows and give a richer tone than some of my older deep bowls. If I could only get the old 5-piece neck with a contour. I do love the feel of the old necks. |
