How do the 30th Anniversary reissues compare with the originals?

1687 RI...personally, I believe the pre-amp that came with the reissues is better than the original. As to the guitar, I have two early 1687's and the RI is a match. The factory did an excellent job.

As to the blue finish/color, the older guitars may have faded but the RI definitely has a darker finish. This is evident on others such as my two 12's and others I have seen that came out of the factory since ? 1990.

Overall, same/same...a classic, new or old.

The reissues are real close to the originals. In some cases maybe a tad better, in others maybe lacking a little of the original mojo. But all in all they are fine instruments and every bit worthy of the name.

Gee when Martin does a reissue they usually substitute Indian for Brazilian rosewood. Are the bowls the same formula/wieght on the RI?

Reissues cost more. Electronics are better. but you can have new electronics installed in an older one for a lot less than the differnce in price and you get a classic that will have a better collectors value like any good American made guitar. The older the guitar is the better the resale.

Just not this week apparently.
