Hi all,

I have a 30th year Anniversary Custom Legend that I am noticing has indentations, probably where wood joins or is braced on the soundboard. These are not cracks (yet) and you can't feel them, but at the right angle, you can see them running from top to bottom on either side of the soundhole rosette and another one mid bridge down. In sunny CA where the humidity is never at the extremes for guitars, I didn't expect to have this kind of problem. Is this a normal phenomenon or should I be concerned? What could be done, if anything, to prevent further damage. Thanks.

I'll give you my two cent worth. This seems to be pretty normal, and has been discussed recently here. Your guitar should have the A Bracing, and I would assume that that is what your seeing. If you can't feel them when you run your hand across the top, I would say there's nothing to worry about. May'be someone more experienced will chime in here.

I, personally, think your guitar is falling apart. I'll be nice and give you $200 for it and I'll even come over and pick it up. Just to be nice.....

somewhat normal. if it gets worse, the guitar is probably too dry.

It's normal. I've heard some folks (like you) voice their concern when they hadn't experienced it before, but never heard of anyone for whom it became a problem.

I once had an '82 Custom Legend 12 string where the bracing had "telegraphed" through like that. I called the service dept at Ovation and they reassured me there was nothing to worry about.

I've got a 25 year old 1537. If you really look, you can see the creases, but you've really got to look....

It's kind of like looking at the paneling in your family room and being able to "see" where the studs are. That's just the way it is. Dave

Cropped to remove the hips due to possible younger viewers. Just take a glance at your favorite Ovation to continue the fantasy...

Rachel, Sophia Loren and Lena Horne absolutely amaze me with their 'matured' beauty.

OK, we hijacked this thread in an appreciative way but now...

Back to our regular programming! My bad...

Ok, to hijack this thread again, where does the expression "my bad" come from? I assume that it means "my fault", but it seems to have popped up in the last year or so. Anybody know?

I've been hearing it for 20 years in my (computer geek) circles. Not something you want to hear your customer support representative say. ;-) "Yeah, I typed the command that you told me to, and now it's saying something about formatting /?!?!?!" "Uhh, my bad."

This is just one link I *found* .

It's been only within the past 10 or so years that I heard it locally.

Yeah, and I bear witness that as you get older your standards get more "refined"

And old Raquel has become more refined...
Like a classic car or an old guitar...

[sounds like a line for a song...]

Thanks to all for your responses. Is it possible to delete all entries except for the pic of Raquel? I think she can actually remove the creases in my soundboard! (My Bad... M. Bol)
