Not sure whether to post this here or on the BFLG forum...

anyway, Aussie James loaned me his 6756LX to 'try before I buy', but it has neck issues.

The neck kicks up immediately at the end of the soundboard and the action is pretty high. I believe 'The Wizz' has already shaved a little off the heel, even with zero neck relief, it's still very high at the 12th fret and there's almost no break angle on the 'e' strings.

I'm tempted (with permission) to shave more off the heel, but thought it might prove less stressful and less time consuming to just get another neck.

Whadya think?

And does anyone have a Legend LX 12 string neck just hanging around?

Al has a nice offering in the For Sale forum.

Is the Truss Rod broken? That sounds awfully strange for an LX neck to do that.

You might be able to shim at the attachment point to re-angle the neck.

Is it the Dual truss Rod style? I would try loosening and tightening the TR a few times and see if it returns to a "normal" position.

But if Wizz has already looked it over... Sorry, I'm no help at all.

Oh yes. It happens to LX necks. It's exactly the same problem my '05C had. I had to send it back to the factory.

There's no way I'm going through that saga again. Queensland - New Hampshire - Queensland is anything but straight forward. The only reason I did it last time was coz it was under warranty.

Pez, I know the neck is easy to remove, but shaving the heel is a precise procedure I'm not willing to carry out on someone else's guitar.

As a temporary fix I'll shim out the top of the neck, but I'd like to fix it properly if I decide to buy it.

The Wizz had to repair some popped braces too. It must've been in quite a state before he worked on it.

Yes, Al's 12er is nice, but it's an Elite, and it's in America...
