Location: Latitude 39.56819, Longitude -105.080066 | FOR SALE: OFC II GUITAR, No. 6/8 WIDENECK, with CARBON FIBER CASE
The pictures and description are taken from Dave's original post from several years ago. I chose to use his pics (with permission) because these guitars are hard to photograph and Dave managed to capture them beautifully. I will be happy to take pics of my guitar for truly interested parties but they are virtually identical with mine being serial number 6 of 8.
Do a SEARCH. You will find RAVES about this guitar. More than a few well respected members call it the best sounding Ovation/Adamas they have every played. It is everyting they say and MORE You probably know all about the OFC II guitar, so I don't need to go into details. 8 of them were made, and a few were wide neck 1-3/4 versions. Mine in s/n 6 and it is indeed a wideneck. The guitar has about 30 hours of play time and is close to 100% perfect brand new condition. Note, it is totally impossible to photograph this guitar. Pay NO attention to anything in the photos that look like scratches or dings,
Here's the nitty gritty ... - Adamas 2080 in gloss Blackburst finish - Hand laid Fiberglass contour bowl - Black binding and textured bowl - Black gloss maple neck - 1 3/4 inch nut width - Set neck - Ebony fingerboard - OP PRO preamp w/ db boost button - XLR and 1/4" outputs - Open back Sperzel tuners brushed nickel - Carbon Fiber Case - Label signed by Alpep and CWKII
- Certificate of Ownership I am including the graphite case that was specially designed by AlPep and provided to those lucky 12 individuals who purchased the first OFC guitar. This case is a perfect match for the beautiful top on the OFC2 guitars and I was lucky enough to procure via trade one of them from Paul Moody. Rumor has it that these cases would cost upwards of $600 if you were lucky enough to find a manufacturer who would even consider making one.
Asking $4500 shipped CONUS. Overseas sales ok but shipping will be added to final cost.
Now.....why am I selling this incredible guitar..... because as many of you know I own the fantastic set of twin 2080 longnecks....a six string and a twelve string and to be honest, I play either the twins or my original slothead 90% of the time and as great as the OFC2 guitar is, it just does not get played. Capoing up to the 2nd fret on the longneck gives me both a regular 6 string tuning and a wide neck. Not as pretty as the OFC2 but packs the same wallop that is lush and full both plugged in and unplugged.
I am in no great rush to sell this so I would accept non-refundable deposits and reasonable payment plans but the guitar will ship only after all monies are collected.

Location: Tennessee | I have one of these with the wideneck. I can;t believe you're selling yours but I understand the reasoning. The OFC2 one of my goto gigging guitars. Also records very, very well. Good luck with the sale. Someone ought to be quite happy. |

It is an amazing guitar and I still kick myself for not getting one originally. At this point, it's just not within my reach.
Good luck with the sale.

IMHO I like it better than OFC1 but that is like asking if you prefer a hundred dollar bill or 2 fifties.
and this is one of only a couple of widenecks that were made.....which is the ultimate combination.
still available.....still not cheap.....but still worth every penny! |

I think only 2 were made with the WN (mine and Bobbo's).
Wide Neck Ovation/Adamas lovers, this is your ultimate guitar! |

Location: Des Moines, Iowa | Way out of my price league and since I've not yet stepped into the world of Adamas, I'll probably start out a bit lighter in weight than this one (i.e. weigh=money). I can hear and feel the pain of those who had and lost or had to let go, but then again... what is it they say?
"It is better to have had one, played it, and loved it, then it is to have never, ever loved/played one at all."
There's a 1967 Mustang fastback GT with a stock 390 (with extras that boost it up to over 450 HP) that I WISH I'd not have let go, back when I was JUST a "SillyLittleBoy" in my days of youth. But I don't dwell on it, I don't feel the regret, I just remember (with a smile) how much fun I DID have for the time4 that I DID have it.
Think about it... most of the people who have EVER picked up some guitar at some point in their lives regardless of their skill level (or lack thereof) will never experience the joy, the pleasure, the full blown orgasmic escape (okay... maybe not quite orgasmic), but guitars like this or a vintage pre-WWII Martin D-45 are on a level rarely enjoyed by most (me included).
So, Stephen... I was thinking you might help me cross this off my bucket list. Okay if I stop by tomorrow after dinner to just hold it... maybe run my fingers thru it's hair....er... I mean across it's strings?
Sorry... I think I was just being a....

This is one of the top 3 Adamas series guitars made IMHO and I have probably owned at least one of every series out there at one time or another. The original slotheads are the best and then depending on what you like appearance wise, either of the special run of OFC guitars are gonna be #2 or #3....
Al nailed it when he commissioned those 2 great runs and they do not show up for sale very often as most hold onto them forever. |

Cry later cause everyone had a chance to grab one of the best guitars that Ovation ever made.

With the twins and #57 this one (as awesome as it is) just doesn't get any playing time.
If you don't want the super cool graphite case, a normal case can be substituted for a lower cost. |
