For those who were not here to enjoy it, unlike those who change their names to protect their incontinence, when I rounded the 5k bend I actually did a drop dead tits-up ceasefire. Registered as a newbie and started the whole clock over again. Kind of a "foutain of youth", with bowl attached.
So let's hear some creative names for our upcoming new member. "Go Away" and "Bite Me" have already been considered.

I didn't think dvd was ever High Def, so a name change won't be necessary. If you switched to Blue Ray or Low Def, no one would get it. |

A curator of a cultural heritage institution (e.g., archive, gallery, library, museum or garden) is a content specialist responsible for an institution's collections and, together with a publications specialist, their associated collections catalogs. The object of a curator's concern necessarily involves tangible objects of some sort, whether it be inter alia artwork, collectibles, historic items or scientific collections.

Nice guitar, I'll take two.
If you play lefty you could be 'EBGDAE'
How about 'The Big Lebowski" he was a Bowl-er.
If you changed the 'rising quickly' suggestion to Awesome Guitar I'll take two, you could abbreviate it to 'AGITT'. |

Never saw a thread I did not like!
I'd play guitar but it is too far away from my computer!
I might be using a lap top in the bathroom right now but here's my two cents.......... |

Location: closely held secret | Thanks, Schro... how about this one?
A redneck family from the hills was visiting the city and they were in a mall for the first time in their lives. The father and son were strolling around while the wife shopped. They were amazed by almost everything they saw, but especially by two shiny, silver walls that could move apart and then slide back together again.
The boy asked, "Paw, what's at?" The father (never having seen an elevator) responded, "Son, I dunno. I ain't never seen anything like that in my whole life, I ain't got no idea'r what it is."
While the boy and his father were watching with amazement, a large old lady in a wheel chair rolled up to the moving walls and pressed a button. The walls opened and the lady rolled between them into a small room. The walls closed and the boy and his father watched the small circular number above the walls light up sequentially.
They continued to watch until it reached the last number and then the numbers began to light in the reverse order. Then the walls opened up again and a gorgeous, voluptuous 24 year-old blonde woman stepped out.
The father, not taking his eyes off the young woman, said quietly to his son, "Boy......go git cha Momma". |

| A woman in her late twenties is sitting in a wine bar and gets talking to a very good looking guy her own age. They have a couple of drinks and she's thinking maybe this is THE guy for me. Not normally the type to get carried away, she realises she's never felt this way about a guy on first meeting.
They go back to his apartment for a nightcap and he shows her round - beautifully decorated, great art and when he shows her the bedroom she's amazed by his three long shelves of teddy bears. The bottom shelf has scores of small bears, the middle shelf dozens of middle sized bears and the top shelf half a dozen huge bears. She's touched by his willingness to show his feminine side and she marvels at how long he must have spent arranging them.
They have a couple more drinks and he takes her in his arms and kisses her. She responds more fully than ever before in her life. He sweeps her up into his arms and carries her to the bedroom. Once there they make love beyond her wildest imaginings. She finds herself responding to him with a passion and creativity that shocks her.
Later as they lay in a soft embrace she asks him "was I good?"
He smiles, strokes her cheek and says "Yes - help yourself to any prize from the middle shelf." |

I guess it'll end when I hit 4999 (aka 9999).
Btw there's an extra 4 posts in SO's account but that's because of the leap year stuff and I think he came back to say "Bite Me" to Cliff a few extra times.
Dave

With that many maybe you make the selection process go a couple rounds.
Top 20, then top 10, then make the final pick from the top 5.
I forgot to ask. Does the winner get a prize?? He or she (I didn't forget you Karen!) darn well should!
A set of string tubes at the very least!
Or maybe a can of reflective inside-the-bowl paint.
Or maybe a free lesson on how to get under Moody's skin.
Or win a Freddie & the Fishsticks performance in your living room. |

There's a few obvious ones that you guys missed. As you can tell I like names that have a second meaning or inside joke that 90% of the members have no clue what it means. Like Tupperware. I still get the occasional PM "Hey, I need a lid for a 6x8 container, do you take PayPal?"
How 'bout:
"Button Boy" (in reference to my perversion with Templemans tuner buttons)
"Plinky" (the sound of my ukulele)
"FauxTRC" (obvious)
"Straight Tuner" (reference to my OFC guitar)
"All Glossed Up And No Place To Play"
"Adumbass Slothead" - get it? like adamas slothead? I actually kind of like this one. I can just see thousands of posts replying to me on the board, starting out with "Hey Dumbass ..."
A member PM'ed me this one, didn't want to post it. I think it's brillient ...
"Preamp Abortionist"
And from one of our non-church going members ...
"God's Gift To Nobody"

:D It would really be fun if you took a backseat and let the OFC decide on your next name :D
Knowing how tight you are with Paul, how about, "moody's pie"? |

TEN SEMI-FINALISTS
Adumbass Slothead
3RD5K
Uri Gitarren
Standingovation
Glossy
Witco
Gallerinski
Freddie
Straight Tuner
Plinky
Mull those over for awhile, then we'll reduce it to the 5 finalists and post a poll. Decision of the judges is final.

I know it's a stupid name that means a lot of different things (depending on the country and the language used) but I think it exemplifies the man we all know and love. |

Standingovation (Because I miss standing o)
Uri Gitarren (Because of the absurdity)
Gallarinski (Appropriate for different reasons)
Freddie (Because he's back)
Adumbass Slothead (Because it has the word a@@ in it which makes me laugh) |

I'd like to thank the academy, my gas-o-holics anonymous 12-step program sponser, my parents for drinking too much on the honeymoon, the proud nation of Poland, Charlie, Bill, Al, Miles, King Crimson, Greg Lake, The Batley Town's Women's Guild, Al Gore - for inventing the internet so all of this could happen in the first place, God - for inventing trees and plastic, and most importantly - Dave - for his sense of humor and the ability to take a helluva ribbing!
If I forgot anyone... I've been driving for 12 hours and I'm a little groggy. |

"The Nuns" - there's a good band name.
Actually - it was inspired by "Gallerina" which was DVDs creation. I owe ya one buddy. |
