Location: Cork, Ireland | How easy would it be to adapt a standard guitar case for a deep-bodied ovation shape? Ovation ones, or ones intended for Ovations are hard to get here. |

Location: Florida Central Gulf Coast | How 'bout some closed cell flexible soft foam cut to form with an electric knife? The closed cells will not absorb moisture. Since it would only contact the bowl, I see no need to cover it with cloth.

Location: Phoenix AZ | You don't need any padding or modification. I use Martin-style Gieb cases on some of my better Ovations. Just make sure you get one with the proper depth so that the guitar is snug against the top.

Like Dave has said the proper depth is what's important.
Dave, what size body is your Martin case? |

| I hope you're taking good care of the Custom Custom Legend. I don't think it would like being in a Martin-style case. Just a hunch. |

Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | If you're in Ireland, try one of the Tribal Planet models offered by Paul in the dreadnaught size. I am now using it for everything, deep bowls, shallow bowls, the OM Tak, and even the VXT and EA Vipers with a special foam insert I cut to custom fit the thin electrics. I've filled the big pockets with gig bag stuff and eliminated the need to carry a gig bag. It is the only case I ever use these days, and it now fits everything. Hard to find here in the states, but I'd bet easy on your side of the pond. |

Location: Capital District, NY, USA Minor Outlying Islands | I've used the martin cases too. Though I really love the tribal planet. I guess you could say that the tribal planet is the gig bag for ovations. Though if you get the martin case, then get a back axe. There ... I've probably throughly confused you. |

Location: Alberta, Canada | Naw, what you want to do is coat the guitar with vasaline, plug the sound hole, place in case and close the lid. Then you get a can of spray foam insulation, slip the nozzle into the case and spray. Quickly pull the nozzle out and close the lid tight. The foam will expand and fill all the voids around the guitar giving a perfect fit. Allow time to set, remove guitar and clean.
Voila, perfect fit; if you didn't spray in too much.

See the thread about a 4 yr old playing trampoline on a factory case. The 1778LX inside was unharmed. |
