Hello everyone, i have a 1991 1866 Legend 12 string that i bought off ebay. It is in very nice condition but i have a small dilemma and was hoping that someone in the club may have some advice to give me or maybe have run up against this before. The truss rod was tightened by the previous owner i'm guessing to try to lower the action. I want to return it to the proper relief.....i used my Ovation truss rod tool and of course the head of the rod is stripped. I tried an E Z out screw extractor...but no luck. Does anyone have any advice or secret tool that they have come up with to fix this? Also there is a bolt right under the truss rod - does this model have a bolt on neck if i loosen it? Thank you very much in advance for looking at this and for any help......James

I am guessing that a 1866 is an SSB... That would be why there would One Bolt.
Yes that is a Bolt-On neck.
And no, you do not want to loosen it.
If there is a space between the neck heel and the bowl, you would tighten that bolt.
I don't have a solution for the truss-rod problem...
But it is still early, someone with experience should be along.

The 1866 has a bolt on neck but the fretboard exdtension is glued to the top of the guitar so the neck is not really removable unless you unglue and reglue the fretboard extension. Bought one from a pawn shop and the fret extension was coming unglued as well as some neck binding pieces missing. Sent it to the factory for an overhaul and as usual John and the gang did an excellent job.
Sorry but I don't have a truss rod solution for you either
