| I just got a used Ovation with a OP4BT tuner pickup
My amp only picks up the guitar when the tuner is on, then it cuts out when the tuner times out.
Is my OP4BT broken or is this the way it works?
Any help would be welcome.
Thanks

No, your OP4BT preamp should produce sound all of the time.
Not just when the tuner function is on.
I don't know what would cause this because I have no experience with Malfunctioning OP4BT preamps.
I do have one, and I have owned others... But I have never had that problem.
The first solution is always to check/change the battery.
If that doesn't cure it, I don't know what will.
So, in answer to your question...
I don't know if your OP4BT is broken... But that is Not the way it is supposed to work.

Location: Sydney, Australia | Hi Bill, like OMA I'm also not familiar with that preamp, but what you are describing is the direct opposite of what is supposed to happen (the tuner should mute the output when it is on). If you know someone familiar with electronics, it sounds like the tuner switch is wired wrong. | |
