My friend of over forty years, Randy Handley, is opening the Med Flory Jazz and Blues Festival this weekend in Logansport, IN. We are in town to see him perform. If you google him you will see he is a prolific Nashville songwriter and blues performer. I had told him about my new OM built by the luthier dwgpreacher hooked me up with. He called me frantic after he learned the promoter forgot to rent a guitar for him to use. He asked if he could borrow my OM for his show. I said under one condition, "you have to teach it how to play the blues during your show". I'll be filming his performance to put it up on YouTube for the builder to see his guitar being played by a professional musician. Plus, I am back in the town where I graduated high school in 1971 and am hoping to run into lots of old friends. Will definitely be spending a lot of time in the beer tent as well. Shaping up to be an exciting weekend.

Sounds like a lot of fun Dave.
Make sure to post up the YouTube links when you get them done.

The festival was a blast. Randy was the opener right after he and I were across the street at the oldest, longest operating bar in the state of Indiana downing some brandy before he went on. When he got to the guitar part of his show they had my OM mic'd perfectly. I filmed his first song and no sooner had I sat down he began playing Trail of Tears, an award winning song that has been covered by a few Nashville greats that he wrote. My OM became a sacred instrument in that moment. You might "always be 17 in your home town", but the few women I ran into in my graduating class of '71 blew that concept out of the water. They had to tell me their names as I didn't recognize any of them!

Here's the video of Randy playing my OM at the festival. I'm absolutely sick I wasn't able to record him playing Trail of Tears, but at least I know the writer of the song used my guitar in a performance of it!
