Finding it impossible to find a replacement under the bridge transducer for my American made Elite-LX. Internet searches for it only yields dealer's "for sale" Ovation guitars containing one as listed in their specs. Is the wide white saddle and the transducer all one unit, or does the piezo come separately? Seems like it wouldn't be a very expensive thing as such transducers for do it yourself installation in a pure acoustic are readily available well under $100. Thanks

Hi Laocmo,

I know this sounds WAY OUT THERE, but have you tried calling Ovation? Or an Ovation dealer?

"or does the piezo come separately"

I couldnt really figure out what part you are actually wanting, but if it is the piezo that you are in need of, you should be able to purchase that from Ovation...Al may even have one on the shelf that you can bag from him

Post a photo of what you are looking for. Odds are someone on this forum has a spare and can sell it to you for a reasonable price.

Ovation wants $90 for the

piezo strip. Is there a generic version that would fit and work?

If your saddle/pickup is a wide one like this...

There is a Washburn saddle that might fit... But I doubt that it is any cheaper.
I have seen the Washburn on eBay for $50-$100 dollars...
For that much you should just get the right part.

If your saddle/pickup is a "Thinline" like this...

You can get an undersaddle piezo and a new saddle and create one.
Or Ovation sells them for around $40 (don't quote me).
The correct part is always better.

I thought the original Ovation ones were closer to $120. $90 sounds like a real good deal to me. Not sure why you would want to go with some cheap aftermarket that you'll have to rig to work properly (if it's even possible to do so) on such a great guitar as an American built LX.

My pappa always told me to do things right the first time... I usually find after taking shortcuts he was pretty much right.

^^^ What they said! ^^^

and just asking... but are you sure it's not working? All wires, connections, battery, etc. been checked?

How often do these go bad under normal use?!

I just bought a brand-new one for my 2078TX-5. I ordered it from Al Pep and he got it from the factory. In fact, I had him order a complete set up, including pre-amp, (OP-Pro) can, pickup (all-black) and jack. It was very reasonably priced. Completely plug-n-play. :D
