Location: SoCal | Stop right there... I can Google the subject and find tons of photos. The question is do you have a guitar or musical tattoo? I have a theme and the vision of what I want. At the last minute, I thought about my vision not being realized in the finished work on my arm. I reached out to Captain Lovehandles to see if his current schedule permits taking me on as a client for artistic consultation and an intial conceptual drawing. If you've got one, were your expectations met? |

My dad beat me 'cause mine said "Mother" But my mother naturally liked it and beat my brother 'Cause his tattoo was of a lady in the nude And my mother thought that was extremely rude
Welcome to my life, tattoo I'm a man now, thanks to you I expect I'll regret you But the skin graft man won't get you You'll be there when I die Tattoo

Maybe you can get a tattoo of Glenn, or Melissa, or Nancy, or Al (Pepiak or DiMeola) |

Location: SoCal | The question was, do you have a guitar or musical tattoo and if you've got one, were your expectations met? 120 views and no one yet? Maybe it's still early. The vision of what I want, is an expression of a belief that I have always had and always will. It's about music. It is not religious or political. I am not into mutilation and some may feel that any tattoo, no matter how artistic, is mutilation. I respect your views, please respect mine. At my age, the colors will still be fresh when I am laid to rest. Asking a question on the OFC sometimes, is an exersize in Reading Comprehension and ADHD... so I might as well start... these are my neighbors, so I'll change their names... Bob and Sue live a few doors down, their little girl, Mia, just loves our big dogs and always runs up to hug them. I'm out mowing and trimming one afternoon and there is little Mia coming to visiting with one of the dogs. She is telling the dog and me about their new pretty parakeet and as Sue is approaching, Mia says mommy has a butterfly (motioning with her hands about an inch or two) and says, this big. I said, that must be pretty. I cut off a Bird-of-Paradise, gave it to Mia, and told her to give mommy a flower when she gets here. Sue loved the flower, got a big kiss from the dog, we talked about the new parakeet, and then Mia said, mommy show Bruce your butterfly. There was silence, a look, and then I understood. Sue smiled and changed the subject. Fast forward to a couple weeks ago... Bob and I were fixing his deck. He just got a tattoo, was explaining about how you have to care for it, and I described what I was thinking about. In the conversation that followed about tasteful tattoos not being bad, I said something like, you're right, I can't believe even Sue got one. Bob just stopped with a nailgun in his hand... as quickly as I could, I told him that little Mia had told me and the dog about mommy's butterfly and that I've never seen it and never even asked where it was. That was a tense couple of minutes.

Location: Denver, CO | I have Isaiah 45:23 wrapped around my right bicep. It was intended to be the foundation for a depiction of the three crosses, silhouetted in the sunset, but my tattoo artist committed suicide suddenly and I haven't had the heart to go looking for another one. I had thought about doing something on the other arm, or possibly a shoulder, featuring the Harley logo and a Telecaster, but that was before I fell in love with Ovations...somehow an Elite just doesn't seem as sexy as a tele, for a tat? But, yes, I probably will have some sort of music-themed tat someday. My dad said it's an abomination but I've never had anything against them. I don't see the purpose in having your whole body covered in them though. Still think that's a little weird.

The ones on the guitars are called inlays... and I'm kind of fond of the palm trees and eagles. |

Location: Central Massachusetts | Loved your story! I have a non music-related tat that I got to commemorate a big moment in my life, and I don't regret it. If it feels right, go for it!
My recommendation would be to take the time and effort to get exactly the artwork you envision. And find a reputable tattoo artist that can handle the art. Check their portfolios and make sure their style matches up with your artwork. It may sound silly, but ask people with good tats where they had them done. Most will be happy to tell you.
Good luck with it! |

Location: GA USA | My son's in the army and he had two tats before we ever knew he had one. Now he has three. He's 23 so he can do it if he wants, but I just hope he has the sense to know when is enough. Like maybe now. |

Location: The Great Pacific Northwest | So I'm guessing MWoody, Lisa and I are the only people in the state of Washington without a tattoo. That being said, I have wanted a tattoo for as long as I can remember. Certainly had the opportunity in everything from 14 years in the Navy and beyond. I love the artform, love to hear the stories behind the art. However, I have never been able to find a story or picture or memory that I would want memorialized. Even stone drunk in a tattoo parlor, more than once... and couldn't find anything that was for me.
I know this doesn't help the original post, but that's why I don't have one. And I do feel kinda necked here in the Pacific Northwest without one. |
