The pickup on my 6768 Elite seems to have quit on me. I noticed some significant crackling the last few times I had played wired up, gave the connections a good cleaning, but it still makes a significant crackling sound, and I can see no obvious problems.

Seeing as how I've never had to fix anything on my Ovations over the last 20 years, I know very little about this. Can anybody tell me what Preamp model for the 6768, about how much for a replacement, and where to find it? Thanks!

I think what you need to do is identify it first and then go on from there.
I think it could be an OP-24 or a FET 3 this information is given on the top of the volume knob.
However to make sure go to www.ovationtribute.com scroll down and select Ovation pre-amps and see if you can identify yours from there .

Further to the above have you eliminated your guitar lead and amplifier?

You're right, OP24 or FET 3. I think its a FET 3, but I'll have to check when I get home.

Yes, I've tried multiple chords into multiple amps/PAs, and its definitely the guitar.

Thanks,
Mark
